AAAAAHHH! I can't believe it. Honestly, i was desperate with this season, this car, this track. I practiced like a maniac, trying to find some reasonable feeling in the car. STarting from 18th wasn't exaclty encouraging. I was rather cautious during the opening laps. To be honest, i felt such pressre that my feet were shivering, i just couldn't handle it. After crashing out during practice like times, i thought i would be a miracle just to make it to the finish line. Thankfully, it tuned out to be a good race for me. I even had some nice battles, for example with Phillippe's Williams. In the end, i'm super excited to finish fourth, it's a dream. The only downside is that Martin and Michal crashed out.
Huge thanks to all who had the patience to listen to my bitching for the last two weeks and helped me to find the optimal setup See you all in Brazil.

i could tell after the morning warmup, greg was going to be fast. took some reservation in the fact that he was starting from 5th, and hopefully i would have a few laps to warm everything up before he was on my tail. nope, turn1 and he is right on me. in some practice starts i had lost control, so i knew to be careful on the cold tires and brakes, tried to hit my marks, but greg was right there, obviously faster at some points. it was going to be interesting to see if i could hold it together with the pressure, but something happened in the final turn and suddenly there was a gap.
rest of the race was an exercise in concentration, trying to keep between the walls. couple times my graphics were noticeably stuttering/lagging, but around 30 or so to go it got really bad especially on the entry to turn 2, and had a couple incidents there including a run up the escape road where i almost stalled trying to back up.
many close calls, and a very difficult circuit, grats to all finishers!

Practicing for the event I realised that there would be a slight mountain to get over to even be able to get the AGS on the grid as it had a tendency to understeer and snap oversteer when corrected and paired with an engine that lacks some umpf/ponies (not the 1st time I've sat in an F1 car that could have used some more ponies hehe), but me and Sky set to work anyway.
I managed to get a decent enough race setup together pretty much on the fly, a bit too snappy on the biggest bumps yet but still ok on the other parts of the tracks, especially getting into the 90's.
Later on Sky sent me a Qually setup which I tweaked a bit with bits from the Race setup and bits of what I could come up with and it was good enough for a 25,9 during the 1st Q session. Wasn't quite happy with it so stuck to it and made a great feeling setup on Friday night and went back out in Q2. Blasted in a 25,0 which I'm really happy with, a high to mid 24 was probably on the cards but meh, happy with the time, not that happy with the position on the grid though...
On Raceday I sat down and had a look at where the car was lacking, which was mainly on turn-in for me. Made a few changes and the car felt good and after another tweak to make up for the heavier fuelload, had suspension set up for half tank, not a full one, the car came alive, not nessecarily fast, but alive and talkative.
The start came and went and as planned took it very easy. Had to avoid an off by a Lotus and Leyton in the 1st turn, thankfully Sky was aware of the off happening as well otherwhise we could have had a massive issue inter-team wise
Continued to take it easy while trying to hold onto the position I had but it came undone in the sweeping right where Richard Coxon and the other Lotus (sorry, can't remember your names yet or don't know exactly who is in which car, please have oversight ) made contact and I did my best to avoid tires, wings and suspension components which I managed to do but both David in his Fondmetal and Sky was able to find a faster route around the caffuffle...
Settled into the rythm and tried to follow Sky and David as they streaked away into the distance. I was pushing a bit, my driving style uses up alot of the front tires as I lean on them going into and through the turns, but was loosing a little bit of time here and there so backed off a percent or two but was keeping an eye on the gaps ahead. Put the throttle down a bit more when Sky closed in on David for the pass to try to follow her through but wasn't able to get close enough, another big issue for the JH25 chassis it seems, so sat back again trying to keep up without pushing the car too hard.
Nothing much happened for the following 30 or so laps apart from a few hairy lappings (being lapped that is, some of the faster drivers need to have a bit more patience) and tirewear but suddenly I was closing in on David. I felt quite strong with the car in the shape it was in so went for it, managed my fastest lap of the race around lap 45 but I was only closing in by about .2 to .3 of a second per lap. To me it looked like I was loosing out a lot on the straights and after the race that was proven true, I checked the horsepowers and the Fondmetal has about 10 BHP more and David was running different wings compared to me.
I had bad luck with the lappings, constantly lost time compared to David, partly due to me making my time in the turns compared to the faster guys driving in a more P'n'S style. Got frustrated several times having to jump the brakes heading for the apex and the rear wings of other cars that was comparatively standing still
Finally got close enough to David when he headed into the pits for tires.
With his higher top speed I drove the wheels of the cars to try to keep the gap but in the end it became a push too much as I turned into the 4th to last turn and I clipped the wall, loosing my front wing.
Pitted straight away and then had another moment coming out of the pits in T1, span up the rears and slammed the outside wall, bending the suspension out of shape and causing the car to squirm all over the place.
In the end managed to still bring it home in 7th place, right where I seem to belong
Jokes aside, I'm really happy to be able to finish the race and that close to the points on a circuit that isn't anywhere near good for the AGS's powerplant bodes well for the rest of the championship.
Thanks for the broadcast, the competition and the organisation, was a good 1st round
Cheers and see you all in Brazil, another circuit I'm thinking the AGS might struggle to Qualify but where it should do well in the race

Please, please, please, would you upload yesterday's live coverage to youtube? I watched the first half an hour yesterday (that grid intro with original music was awesome ), but now the video isn't available anymore, there's only Pascal's onboard.
