Recon laps will be turned off for the foreseeable future. Rules will be updated.

Fast laps are now working also. (Thank you Frank!)

Forgive my asking if its an issue, but is there a reason recon laps are being omitted?

The recon laps feature is sadly bugged online with rF2 it seems Sad. It can work well on occasion, but most often some people will get random discos and stuff. As we are not too familiar with rF2 as admins yet, better to drop it for now. Not scratching it altogether though, as many people love it (I'm one of them), so when we will find time we'll investigate it and see if a fix can be made or obtained.

It seems that cars with Cosworth will lose a lot on this track to Alfa Romeo, Renault and Ferrari engines. Even though I drove 1:44.319 in offline (not in online because online practice session is too short for me, and from this non-admins can't restart them, don't know why, but I used server track grip) on my Lotus 79, the loss on the straight is just huge. I just remember how fast the car with the Alfa Romeo was going in Imola when I was training on Brabham.

Interesting observations.
Driving these things for the first time has been quite an eye-opener. The default setups are total garbage. Snap-City on the brakes, on the gas, on everything
I know zip about car engineering, so I go with all the placebo settings that I have carried since my GPL days and boom - three seconds, then mess around with stuff I should not be messing around with because I am clueless - and boom another second or two.
Maybe I am alone on this but worth articulating in case there are guys struggling to tame these beasts which I still am. But at least I feel more in control than just a passenger which shit setups make me feel when I drive the Lotus...

I am glad I am not the only one who hates the base setups. They are better on some tracks then others but I adjusted the suspension slow/fast bump settings and was much happier.

Public Service Announcement: I am terrible at making winged open wheel car setups. I am the blind squirrel that finds an acorn once in a while.

Naturally, there is a difference between base setups and those that you do yourself. But it is about the same as on other mods in rF2. I spent about the same amount of time setuping up the Lotus 79 as I do on other mods.

Here the most important role is played by experience, which allows you to understand after a few laps what changes need to be made in the car setup. Experience comes only with practice. So I don't feel any problems with that.

I'm more afraid that even in the case of pole position, my Cosworth will throw me from the first position to fourth or fifth to the Ascari Chicane on the first lap. And that then it will be very difficult to get back.

Thanks for the setup Vladislav - I will try it.
I am in a different position to you. winning is out the question, finishing will be a win for me!
For instance at Kyalami the Renaults will blow everyone away on the long straight if it is true to life when Joburg altitude was a hge boost for the turbos of the time
I feel your pain, but there will be tracks where the Lotus will be mega I presume

That sounds good, we all need a bit of challenge here, can't always go from pole to win with FL and leading all laps :D

(Not that I usually do, hotlapping isn't my thing and setups even less, so I'll have "fun" trying to make the "Customerus" as sharp as your works car)

If I was your teammate in the Lotus, I'd probably be in the same boat as you, having to dodge all these cars coming at me, so... :D

Although, if you make a really great getaway, they might won't be able to study your tailpipes again for lap 1 :hihi:

The limiting factor for my Renault is the fuel used, I'm using 1.3 gallons per lap! So I end up carrying much more fuel at the start.

Can you set it to a maximum 2 hours and 45 minutes? 1 hour for not official practice - not enough time.
