| 1972 Interlagos 500 Kms The EventThe Interlagos 500 Kms race was one of the classic events on the Brazilian calendar since the late 1950s. Initially an all-national race, it had an International edition in 1972, at a time when Brazil was starting to become a major motor racing country thanks to the blossoming of talents such as the Fittipaldi brothers and Carlos Pace on the international racing scene. This 1972 edition gathered an interesting field combining some Brazilian, Italian and Portuguese entries, with a few other well-known Europeans such as Reinhold Jöst and Herbert Müller also making the trip. The race was a strange mix between the Indy 500 and a European-type sportscar event, as it was held not on the excellent 8-km road course of the Interlagos complex, but on the rarely used outer loop "roval" (road-oval) section. As for the Indy 500, the grid had a 3-3-3 shape and the race was a non-stop solo-drive 500er, although it was kilometres rather than miles. The race was open to all Sports-Prototypes, which included the former 5-litre Group 5 cars such as the Ferrari 512M, Lola-Chevrolet T70/Mk3B GT or Ford GT40 which were now banned from the World Championship for Makes, but also the 3-litre (Porsche 908, ALFA-Romeo T33/3, Abarth 3000, etc.) and the 2-litre Prototypes (Chevron B19, Lola T210, Porsches 906, 907 and 910, and even a French works GRAC). Local machinery from Brazil and Argentina were also present, many of them powered by American V8s, and there even were a couple of modified ALFA-Romeo GTA sedans ! For more details about the race, see the following links : Complete results and entry Pictures and summary (in Portuguese) Pictures Brazilian motor racing history The DownloadsWe will use the "Classic Sportscar and Grand Touring 1970" carset of the WSC 1970 1.0 mod for rFactor. The "roval" layout of the Interlagos track was made by the one and only JP Campmajo from the GPC79 version of the full road circuit. It will appear in the "HSO Tracks" folder of the track menu in-game. --> Download Track <-- The RaceSunday April 14th8:00pm - Qualifying 8:50pm - Drivers’ briefing & Warm-up 9:00pm - Race Start (156 laps, flying start after one formation lap, grid 3-3-3 pole left) IP : 91.121.135.76:34700 Password : hso72A training server will be running 24/7 with the same password --> Hotlaps <-- The CarsThree classes of cars are entered : - 5,000cc Group 5 Sportscars (5.0 Ferrari 512M, 5.0 Ford GT40, 5.0 Lola-Chevrolet T70/Mk3B) - 3,000cc Group 6 Prototypes (3.0 ALFA-Romeo T33/3, 3.0 Ferrari 312P, 3.0 Healey-Repco XR37, 3.0 Porsche 908/02 & 908/03) - 2,000cc Group 5/6 Sports-Prototypes (1.8 Chevron-Cosworth B16, 2.0 Porsche 906, 2.0 Porsche 910) The field is limited to 33 cars, 11 in each of the three classes. Only one driver per car is allowed. The faster drivers and the newcomers to the league will not be allowed to drive the Ferrari 512M. There will be one overall scratch classification, but class results will be recognised as well.

| I'm out of town on business at the moment so cannot look at the track. I see a layout online. Is it banked at all? Looks like Portuguese Nascar with wings. No right turns!! | |

Looks like Portuguese Nascar with wings. No right turns!! Layout here. First turn is banked, the other ones are regular corners. Carl, if you want the Alfa, you can take mine, I don't particularly care. | |

| @Ben: The #62 entry is racing under the banner of "Chevron Cars", not "Chevron Racing". Did you mean the #44? Currently testing, not sure what to drive since none of the Porsches and Ferraris have a Swiss on board Although one of the smaller Porsches has a Swiss driver(Willy Müller) and Bonnier is racing under the Swiss flag. | |

| The track is not loading for me. I get errors loading a bunch of files and then the game crashes. Also, the track installs to the GPC79Tracks folder. Nevermind about that part.

| Ok, make sure your texture detail is set to High, otherwise you won't be able to load the track. |
