PostSubject: My race ended due to a program error....   Round 2 - Sebring - Page 4 Icon_minitimeWed 2 Jun 2010 - 21:05

Naja.......

First I'd like to appologize for the chat during the race, was not my intention.

My race started quite ok, I was able to keep my position and follow Steve Parker in front of me. Right after the start I realized that Phillipe Martinelli in his DeTomaso brakes quite late behind me, so I used a conservative line, not be hit by him. As expected, in round 2 or 3 he was too late and took Steve Parker in his Porsche with him. I am really sorry for Steve who drives a nice line :top: :top:

After this incident, the race stabilized and I could follow the cars in front of me, always between 3 to 5sec behind. Then, in round 5, I accelerated to early after the "hairpin" and went out at the grass. So far not a big deal, as I had quite a nice reserve to the car behind me.

However, the car started to sink, like in a lake.... :grrr: :grrr: :grrr: :grrr:

I couldn't do anything, my race was over. I'd really like to ask Frank and Guillaume to check this and correct this error. It is really a pitty when you train quite hard, and then your race ends due to a program error in round 5 only.. Sad Sad Sad Sad

However, I appreciate very much racing with all of you here and look already now forward to join you again. Is a great league, congratulations!! :top: :top: :top:

So, now I go and open a bottle of beer and read a Porsche Magazine! :cowboy: :cowboy:

See you, thanks and good night! :conduit: :conduit:

PostSubject: Re: Round 2 - Sebring   Round 2 - Sebring - Page 4 Icon_minitimeWed 2 Jun 2010 - 22:12

Sad

Jochen, i'm sorry for the "shut up" in the chat, it was rude. There's a rule that says chatting is strickly forbidden during races. I know you must have felt very frustrated but you don't have the right to disturb other drivers who are still in the race. Nothing against you, its just the rules. I wish you better luck next time.

PostSubject: Re: Round 2 - Sebring   Round 2 - Sebring - Page 4 Icon_minitimeWed 2 Jun 2010 - 22:40

Shocked

So first i would like to say THANK YOU guys that i can join this great league.

Summary
My start was very careful, and lost some positions. Then i had many nice and clean racing moments with Ben. So in half of race i was on second position GTU behind Frank. End of race was very nervous, beacuse Frank goes slow (i think problem with pedals? because i saw flashing brake lights on straghts) i was attacking his post, but collision with him turn me to the oppostite direction. In the finish was our gap 0,9 s. Great race.
Sorry Frank for my hot head Wink and sorry for my poor english.

PostSubject: Re: Round 2 - Sebring   Round 2 - Sebring - Page 4 Icon_minitimeWed 2 Jun 2010 - 22:58

My worst ennemy tonight was my PC, but my best opponent was Honza Cool ! Great race all along. Early on Ben was leading the class and he was really faster than me in the straights, I think maybe he had the rev limit at the max (I had it at the minimum). I had a hard time following him, even more as my fps were once again desperately low - 14-20 fps on most of the track, except superbe peaks at 35 in the airway straights Sad .

So I was aiming for a consistent race and did just that. Ben faded a bit and Honza took over 2nd a few laps before the first pit stop. I had a 10s margin before the stop but after we both pitted Honza was only 5s behind. The last stint was very busy with lots of traffic and little by little Honza closed the gap.

Honza Mild wrote:

Yes I have this brake pedal problem since a couple of months Sad . I have anihilated 20% of the pedal range with the DXTweak utility, but I still get the problem sometimes although not as bad as before.

As Honza said he caught me and we collided but that was as much my fault as his. I thought about letting him by after the collision (which happened just under the nose of Gui and Carlo btw, sorry about that pale ) but after suffering for 2 hours my ego took over and we embarked on two boiling hot final laps and a close finish Twisted Evil :conduit:  ! Many thanks to Honza for this great challenge !

Grats to Carlo and Gui for their close finish and to all finishers :top:

Standings are updated on the website. However, they are still provisionnal as the admins will need to look at the replay concerning the finish between Carlo and myself.

My race with Franck Tripey kept me on my toes the entire race. We ran nose to tail most of the race. When I'd gap him a bit he'd pull me back in. At the end I realized I didn't put enough gas in at the pit stop so I started slowing to save fuel. Franck was closing in but I knew I would have to go the extra lap at the end. If Franck had stayed in front of Carlo he too would've had to go with me. He was close enough then we would've had a good battle coming to the line. I finished with 0.1 gal left in the tank.
Happy to take 4th!

Congats to Carlo and Frank.
