Looks good... I just hope we don't have to re-live 1.255 with 3242536 updates and loads of testing. Caused nothing but trouble, crashed servers, interrupted races, hours lost, only to cater for those 3 people who bought the game on DVD...

Interview with Gjon Camaj, CEO of ISI : http://simhq.com/_motorsports5/motorsports_154a.html

Some extract on VirtualR : http://www.virtualr.net/rfactor-2-simhq-qa-with-gjon-camaj/

Quote :
- There’s a less than 48% chance that rFactor 2 will be released in 2010

- ISI will be adding more licensed content post-release

- The new AIW system allows multiple paths depending on car type and driver style

- rFactor 2 will be using a technology called “RealRoad”, a dynamic racing surface allowing rubbering in of tracks, marbles, drylines during rain races & more

- The title will be using DircetX9, the DirectX 7 & 8 options known from rFactor will be abandoned

- rFactor Light will return with rF2

- rFactor 2 will be having built-in mod tools, making modding easier (see screenshot of the new “rFTools” module below)***

- rFactor 2 will have no built-in server for multiplayer races, the dedicated server method being the only option

Indeed ! And the modding tools sound nice too. Awful news about DX7 and DX8 though, I guess that would mean 50% of our members could not run RF2 pale Suspect

Currently a DX9 Graphic card is really cheap. Think about the current advanced cards runs under DX10 & DX11... Rolling Eyes

Doug: All the endurance racers are pleading for this one. Can we now re-enter a race event?

ISI / Gjon: We are working on it. Initial testing has shown promise, and we are starting to do more large scale testing now.

I Wonder how easy it would be to convert an Rfactor 1 Mod to Rfactor 2 :hum:

Everything I've read about conversion seems to indicate it won't be easy to do. It'll need some time to realised it properly. But news also the CSGT team had been disbanded and won't be able to do it (and correcting the over rated 312 and adding the missing 2L Lola).

It won't be much harder than converting a mod from F1Challenge to rFactor, guys...
It just should take some time to the modders to fully understand how to take full advantage of the new functions in the game.
