One of my best races of my career, i' m very very happy..3rd place is a really unexpected result. At start I was very awake to avoid all the screaming hell in front of me.. It was like passing into a burning fire tunnell, but I was very fortunate and concentrated. After that i keep going on good lap times after lap 5 when I had Ryon pushing on me hard. When he retired, i tried to stay concentrated studying every lap my car. The first half the cars was good, then on the second half the car became to be sometimes unpredictable, so i set more front brakes. Congrats also to my team mate Paolo Rossetti who fought as a lion keeping behind an always consistent and fast David Jundt. 3rd and 5th. Great race for Lotuses in our home race!!! Italians do it better

While I'm sorry for all who got caught in that start crash, I'm super happy for taking that one championship point. Its quite obvious that I can't score without something happening to other faster cars, but this was the case. I enjoyed a nice little battle with my teammate Yves during the first five laps. Then it was mostly a lonely ride. Though, it wasn't a mistake free race for me by far. I went off in Rivazza at least five times. Plus I had a super scary moment in lap 28, when I touched the curb in Tamburello and it sent me into a wild 300kph spin. Thankfully, I didn't hit anything and recovered quickly. My strategy was wrong, as soft tyres would last without any issues. Possibly even supersofts. But as the gap between me and Yves was big enough, I decided to pit for another set of SS. I think I was the only one who changed tyres. The car was very loose towards the end, will have to work on my setup for the next race. Anyway, I can't be happier. Earning a point after so much struggle with this Italian sled is extremely satisfactory. Grats to everybody. See you next time.

I just watched the broadcast. Great job as always There's one thing i have to point out - you really get pronunciation of the names right. Fun fact: Janak and Janik are pretty much same names, both have something to do with Jan = John in Czech/Slovak. While Brian pronounces his name the American way, i'm 100% sure he has either CZ or SK ancestors and his last name means "Little John". For the original sound just enter the name into google translator, select Czech and let it read for you (Yanieek). As for Karel, i don't think he himself can pronounce that insanity when he gets drunk
Two more observations: 1. What the hell was Greg doing?? 2. A quick look at the chart of fastest laps shows that there was David, then Michal 1,8s behind and then David Jundt, Gabriele, Paolo and me, all around 4,5s slower than David in his McLaren. That's... scary. Anyway, hats off to David for jumping into Jordan, what a sportsmanship!

Let me start my race report with something much more important than racing itself. It is about David Jaques. I´ve never met him on track or even chat with him before this race. After I took McLaren David contacted me over PM with offer of a setup, very kind message and setup where it was clearly visible he put so much effort to that. I was barely able to test the car before Sunday but David was always OK with any of my stupid question. After race I found out that he not only shares set with me but also help others with setups and finally changed for slower car! I think that this is that kind of behavior we all should follow! DAVID, thank you VERY VERY much. I would never finish the race without your help. Regarding the race. As I did not drive any of these beasts for such a long time my only ambition was to finish the race. After first lap crash I found myself on 6. place which was circa minus 20 position where I deserve to be :-D I slowly getting used to drive the car. I was trying hard not to ruin anyone´s race. Now I think I can try a little harder as even with very low boost I was usually able to run similar times with guys ahead of me. No matter that, I let them overtake me quite quickly so after first few laps it was quite a lonely drive. On the other hand, these cars are challenge to drive and I was quite happy to do regular lap without much mistakes. Finally, I was not able to do the whole race without journey to mud, but I was happy to finish in 8. position which is much more I ever expected. Thank you all for a race, thanks David, thanks admins!
btw. Great broadcast again! Super fun!

Actually the only name I constantly hear spelled wrong is mine, which sounds quite different than how Jason says it
But the fact that I learned russian for some years probably also helps getting right any slavic names

The root of many names is patronimical i.e. related to being the "son of" someone. Johnson is obviously "Son of John", and its equivalents would be Jones in welsh, Gianni in italian, Hansen in german, Ivanov in russian and ... Ibañez in spanish (Ivan-es, i.e. sons of Ivan aka Juan aka John)
Interestingly, those family names are way more frequent in those countries than Ibañez is in Spain. It's not a rare name here, but it isn't one of the most common ones either.

BTW after the broadcast we remained at the TS and were joined by some more people, it was great to see Michal come around. always nice to be able to talk in person to you guys There were many bad and dirty jokes and fun about all national clichees, and even at some point the conversation was just shouting in german. Pascal is really hilarous and David has a great humour too, so I think we should be making this a tradition in the future. The TS has to remain open with a section called "The Bar" for that after broadcasts, and everybody is invited to join for a beer and some laughing.

No you weren't. I had to do change tyres too. A damaged suspension in the initial crash results in a massive wear of my front tyres. My right front tyre was at 10% when I stopped.
Start to look the broacast. Very nice job guys. You're way better than some professionnal journalist.

Well not mine . But even french speaking people don't. That's the problem with a briton name poorly translate in french. From Ty-an-gov my ancestors became Tiengou...Some drunken french official came by Ludovic is also a bit of a trick for english-speaking guys (same for spanish and german ones ). The "u" is prononced differently in french. So is the final "ic". But I'm found of the Lioudovitch so don't bother to try to said it the french way

Same here. It's a very brave move to switch from a car he dominate to another one more challenging. Very few will have do the same. It's a huge proof of sportsmanlike attitude and it deserve to be noticed I've to thank him too as I'm the benefactor of the McLaren now
