you scared the shit out of me Surprised up till then a very nice fight. Funny we made a 1 min pitstop for repairing damage..after that we managed to unlap ourselves..we were like twin brothers Jukka Laughing

In the final stage I caught up with Jason, passed him for the lead and was Lucky to finish the race under yellow Razz

See ya all at Indy. Mod is great :top:

We should have lowered the laps for the 2nd race as Alberto suggested really. :smil20:

Was just trying to finish race but ran out of fuel as my pit crew were AWOL lol! Was trying to conserve fuel last 30/40 laps but ran out about 5 laps from end, think it was me that caused the last yellow (Sorry about that  Sad )as I was coasting down the pits trying one last time to make a pit stop. Would of been 3rd I think.

Also whenever I caught the snake behind the safety car it would start telling me to get behind the cars behind, did it when sat in queue in pit lane at start too?

I reckon you either had no time to react or no room to move, I'm glad I didn't wreck your race too Embarassed Up to that point the race was hugely enjoyable indeed!

I thought I'd made a mistake when I lost a lap in the pits but fortunately could pass Jason before the next yellow.

Well Well Well!

I guess i was expecting a bigger field, but we had so many yellows that i wonder if that would be a good thing!

Race 1 i lost 7 (yes, SEVEN) laps trying to find my pit to repair my car thanks to the over eagerness of someone that tried to win a 100lap race in the first turn... Evil or Very Mad

Was a monstruous atrittion race after that, and i managed to  climb to 4th!

Race 2 was going good, but then i got a surprise stop and go penalty for passing someone before the line! i braked of surprise and someone turned into me and hit my car. Once again repairs (this time my pit was highlighted) folowed by a stop and go. Drove almost the whole race 1 lap down, but i knew people were going to pit, so i waited and went around until i was third :third:

I used the weakest engine, that would allow me to finish both races without pitting, so i reckon without those problems i was in a shot for victory at both! But still, was a nice result for me, because i didn't make a single error, my car was tuned to perfection, and i could have pounded laps all day, specially with worn tires.

Now i understand the bugs, and i excuse them, new track, new mod, new everything. What i think people should pay more atention is how they drive, and have in mind that they won't win a 100lap race driving on the ragged edge every single one of them, and SPECIALLY not in the first corner! :bangry:  These cars are dangerous to drive, one little touch and its all over, so instead of going for overall pace, you should keep a small margin of safety.

Congrats to the winners, and to all the finishers, i really enjoyed myself, can't believe it's still so long to the indy 500, loved the strategy, and setuping up the car, and the mod itself :chinois:

I would love to drive this car there also, unless Alberto convinces me to join team chevy :D

Results are up on the website. Looking back, I think something may have happened with the Heat 2 start order scratch Seems scrambled to me.  Maybe using the heat 1 result xml rather than a qualy xml had something to do with it...

I'll let Frank figure out how these two heats will figure into the HSO Gold Star...

If people who leave after the first race, and don't start the 2nd e.g Jakob F or Dave S, they finishing place will be filled with someone who didn't finish the first. That's why Peter was on pole and Doni 3rd.

I apologize for the starting order issues, both first and second heat. Embarassed
Indy qualifying happens on a different day than the race, so that will hopefully be a simpler quality control matter...

I must say that, besides the problems we had with the pitstalls and grid, the track and the mod worked very well and racing was quite enjoyable. Seeing a bigger field there, even if not everyone showed up, was quite impressive and for 2nd heat I stood at the server after parking the car and could watch some great racing.

The pit stall bug came out of nowhere, we had done test races and never had that problem, nor did we have it in the different testing session since the server was open. scratch

Well, even if I wasn't available for race 2, I'm very pleased with my performance yesterday. First HSO win! :first: Everything worked so good for me, even if there was luck involved that my pit spot worked. Jukka and Austin pressured me good for most of the race, it was only near the end that Jukka's pace dropped - it was a nice feeling to think that I would do everything the exact same way in race 2. But then my internet died. Too bad.

And what a great mod! That was really the star of the show. Superb racing!

About the attrition: I used the highest race boost available and so was super careful on gear shifts. Austin beat me out of the pits because of that, and I did every single restart in 3rd gear.

And I really should get better at sharing my setups. I had a very stable car, I guess that coud have helped people. Sorry. Embarassed

Actually, I just went through the entry list at the dedicated thread and saw that everybody showed up at one moment or another. It's just that we never had everyone at the same time for one of the heats. Probably the double header format and the daylights savings time change were the main culprits, as well as the pitstall bugs that discouraged many people that had attended heat 1 to stay for heat 2.

In any case we missed you Gui What a Face you should request from the GF a special exemption for the Indy 500 Cool

I don't think my GF would have a problem with a race once in a while, it's just that I don't have my simracing PC and G25 with me right now Wink So I won't be there for Indy or anything else this year I think.

Grats to our two heat winners!  Great rides, chaps.  Smile

Sadly, I was only available for heat #1 but I'm certainly glad that I made the show.  The racing was very intense and a lot of fun.  The pit stall glitch was a great letdown and meant I wouldn't be making the finish without a refuel.  Additionally, I was fingered by USAC officials for doddling along on a caution lap and threw me a 'end of line' penalty for not keeping up with the pack.  In trying to serve this on a pit stop later, there was nowhere to stop.  I just carried on til the game finally DQ'd me straight off the road while right on Jacob's tail on a restart.  Ah, well...

TY for organizing and TYVM for a terrific mod!  :top:

I'll be back for more.

In actual fact, almost everyone who booked a car did show; it's just that some chose to do one heat as opposed to two.

With all those yellow flags situations it's much better to use the strongest race engine you can get. You cannot even stay in the slipstream If you have 50HP less then the runners in front of you. That extra pitstop you have to make due to fuel consumption is easily being paid back under caution conditions.

When Heat 2 was over, I had 11 liters left in my tank, so if there had been one less 3-lap yellow flag, I might not have made it home.
