PostSubject: Discos and rFactor Crashes   Discos and rFactor Crashes Icon_minitimeFri 25 May 2012 - 10:41

Guys.
After my 1st disco on the DRM race, I've become suddenly more interested in solving some problems Shocked
Sometimes my rFactor exits to windows (but still working just minimized to tray, I click and continues the game... on a wall of course)), luckly only hapaned on practice... till one day :spy:
The other day, talking with Tiago, he told me that he had that issue when using AVG anti virus, which I do...
He said he uses the Avast.
I use win 7 64.
Anyone knows anything about these issues?
Thank you guys :chinois:

I had the same issue with my previous PC. I changed it before I knew what it was, but I always suspected my anti virus yes (Avast).

Now I'm with Antivir and I never had problem with it Smile

Try to disable auto update (same with windows update :hum: )

Tks Martin I'll have a look at that.
You mean you had troubles using Avast?
I've disabled some updates already, but I'm shure I'll have some programs to check...
My Pc is only about 1 year, and it always happened this with rFactor I guess...

One alternative way of using the internet with less risk and without antivirus is to create a "Guest" profile and use it for internet instead of the "Administrator" one. That way Windows won't let most crap install or come into it, because guests have no privilegies. So, if you can run rFactor and connect to the server using a guest profile, this could solve your trouble because you could then deactivate the antivirus for racing online and still be more or less protected thanks to your profile being powerless to allow any crap in ...

En portugués tendrá otros nombres, pero en inglés los pasos a seguir son éstos:

Start Menu--->Control Panel--->User accounts--->Activate guest account

Aquí para Vista/Windows 7

After years of troubles trying to find the perfect anti-virus, I finally found out the best was to have none at all :D ! I don't have one anymore, nor do I have a firewall, since 4 or 5 years now and all goes well. I always know where I go on the internet, so I don't see why I would need some protection ^^ .

With AVG, you have the option to disable the programme for x amount of time, or indefinitely until you re-enable. Additionally, there is game booster which will close any existing programmes in the background (to stop pop ups etc.).

Finally, if you want to avoid discos, it's best you are the only one using the internet and are attached via LAN.

Let's see...
when I race I'm allways home alone lol! don't ask Suspect
I can't plug the lan because it's upstairs in the livin'room. But the disco was a first as I said... I hope the last.
AS FOR THE gUEST THING... I've tryed a quick test and I can run rfactor... the servers are there but I havn't time for testing going on track. I'll try that later today.

Ok, with the guest thing the game crashes when goin on track.
I've unninstaled AVG and installed Avira. Suprise when I've tried to run the game tha avira says the exe gas a trojan so it won't let me open it...
My exe's are all cracks... but never had this trouble with avg... I've just puted it as exceptions.
With avira I have to turn it down and then play. study

If you right click the balloon of Avira in the bottom right, there should be a place to disable the programme while you play for a set amount of time.

Yes, it would be turning the anti-virus off. So if you turn it off, probably best not to use the internet or make any downloads etc. if you have phobias to viruses

I Had problems with AVG wanting to update during a game ... I Also had it with Avira even worse ...

I Switched to Avast on someones recommendation on HSO and i dont get any virus
and you can also disable Avast when your playing online ..... Been using for 2 years now .... :D

One thing that can cause disco's is dodgy plugins especially simraceway client
so if you have that delete it from your plugins folder ..... Wink

The problem with the disappearing and re-appearing is the internet, not anti-virus Wink I use LAN but not from box. You can buy adapters to plug into the wall called "Powerline's."

They look like these

Of course, I wouldn't buy over the internet without working out the product etc. at a computer specialist shop or something Wink
