First thing, a training server is now running for this event :

Historic Simracing CART
pass : hso98

Best times are displayed here : => HOTLAPS MID OHIO <=
Now a few advices about the mod and the track :
You can find a good base setup and a replay of a decent lap here : => Mid Ohio setup & replay <=
The setup should work fine on every car, nevertheless, if you're driving a Swift, you may need to soften rear springs to have a more stable car.
The steering ratio is set on 13°, which is rather low, but in my opinion necessary to be able to quickly catch some small driving errors, otherwise you would be in the wall even before having completly turn your wheel.

The mod has been made to be used with the autolift activated (a driving aid which automaticaly cuts off gas when gearing up). To activate it, open your .PLR file located in your "Userdata/YourName" folder, and edit this line like this : Auto Lift="1".

Cockpit mirrors being barely useless, I strongly recommend you to use virtual mirrors, you can activate them like this :
Virtual Rearview In Cockpit="1"

I personnaly use the Realfeel plugin with this mod, I have a really good feeling with the car using the recommanded values, which are :

[CART 1998]
MaxForceAtSteeringRack=-1000.000000
SteeringDamper=11500.000000
FFBMixerRealFeelPercent=100.000000

If you don't want to have both RF plugin and autolift activated for all your mods, the best thing to do is a dedicated installation for this mod.

Now a few words about the cars themself : high downforce, high braking power and mostly, very powerful turbo engines. Do not try to make the car slides, it has not been made for that. The turbo engine can be tricky to master, with relatively low torque at low revs, you'll get a good kick in the back when the turbo will kick in.
The best technique to avoid it is short shifting, which means to gear up at low revs. This will be particulary useful between turns 5 and 6 or turns 11 and 12.

The boost pressure is adjustable in the setup and from your cockpit. So remember to assign 2 buttons to be able to adust the boost value while driving. Considering your engine will burn around 4.4L per lap at full boost, and only 3.7L per lap at minimum boost, that will make a big difference in a 83 laps race. Of course the engine will be much easier to tame at minimum boost.

Remember to practice your pitstops, as you will need to pit at least twice to finish the race. Remember to assign a button to call your team before doing a pitstop or it will last longer.

Now its time to drive ! :conduit:

Virtual Rearview In Cockpit="1"

[CART 1998]
MaxForceAtSteeringRack=-1000.000000
SteeringDamper=11500.000000
FFBMixerRealFeelPercent=100.000000

:conduit:

Carlo I gave a try to your Reynard/Mercedes setup the other day in my Reynard/Firestone/Honda car, and during 75% of the lap, the car's bottom was touching the ground, leaving a trace of sparks affraid Is that normal??? Is it intended to cause fires in the rivals's fuel tank?? :spy:

in fact the car is very low, and on the back straight, the car really rubbs the floor a lot. You don't lose topspeed, i stillg et 299km/h Smile (or more, but then you say "hi" to the wall Wink ) :urgence:

Yeah i run minimum ride height which gives better grip in the twisty stuff

I remember before last year's Long Beach's race Gui created a patch that removes the sparks:

There you go: ftp://91.121.135.76/rFactor/spark.rar

Anyway i don't know if it creates mismatches on the server

Minimal ride height is not optimal. If you read the CARTFactor readme it states that "Downforce begins to stall at ride heights around and below 20mm, so one is advised to keep the car high enough, particularly when running softer suspension rates." When you drive the ride height will be a lot lower than in the setup menu because of downforce. Personally I find the the Mid-Ohio setup that comes with CARTFactor really good, you can see a video on youtube where the author of the mod's physics does a 1.04.4 with the same setup.

The server is running the no-chicane version. Why not run the Miller Lite 200 version that was made specifically for CARTFactor (doesn't have a chicane either) Razz?

I think no real car should be able to rub the bottom wildly for 83 laps and make it to the end! Suspect
