| Great event everyone it was really awesome to get to watch the field all close together for the first laps through the scenic Nurburgring circuit. The race went mostly really well for us, Guillaume was able to keep up with Tristan pretty well in the early going and it was interesting seeing where the 917 was faster and where the 908/3 was. Tristan had a huge freeze that slowed him for some 45 seconds but after that he had some weird textures but was flying to catch Siebert. He managed some 852's and 3's !!! I myself didn't run great, the night before we decided to run Tristans setup which I wasn't totally comfortable with but was working great for him. I told him that he had to start the race then, so I just ran it consistent. A stint is sooo long in these cars takes some concentration! Congrats to all finishers of this very special event, and a big thanks to Mr. Siebert for organizing and anyone else who took part in it! Hope to be back for more in the future | |

Of course a disapoiting race for me, after the Indy 500, another great race spoiled by connexion problem The start was ok, I even took the lead when Tristan made a mistake at the chicane before exiting the modern section of the track. But he took the lead back just before the Karussel in the first lap. Then I just made too many mistakes, the 917 is terribly hard to drive in race, even more when you're trying to follow fast guys like Tristan and Ryan. After the restart I choosed hard tyres, the car was better but just 2 laps before giving the wheel to Martin, connexion lost As Martin didn't drive thge 917, he took my seat in the 908 to finish the race, after Frank drove it for 4 hours in a row Sorry again for that stupid error with the server. We'll do better next time

| Congratulations to Tristan and Ryan for an outstatnding victory! Thank you to Guillaume and all who helped organize this event. I would like to say what a treat it was to drive this race. I can't thank Christopher Snow enough for inviting me along. He put in a great qualifying effort and drive all race long and kept us toward the front even as high as 3rd at one point. I tried not to give up too much during my stints and was happy to race Carl again if even only for a short time.
Ready for the next one!

| 17 teams committed to racing round this track, this race was far more than the race I hoped for.
Very pleased with our performance in the race. Jon Clinton and I were both green to the track and we did well for a first race, with no unsheduled pitstops and some reasonable times. Apparently, we were right there with Carl Larrad towards the end and the Nordschliefe is his second home of late! Perhaps a bit of bad luck for his team.
I had great fun during my first stint chasing the Italian Ferrari. Pushing to catch him and that was when I set my best times, far surpassing my previous bests. Unforuntunately shortly after this the tires went off big time and I couldn't keep it on the track for almost a whole lap. I backed off and gradually built up speed again, the Ferrari had made mistakes of its own. Eventually they made a full spin on the gp circuit and had to wait for me to go past. We were close again after our second pitstop.
I also had fights with the Alfa after the restart, their car seemed to warp accross the track, but they let me past on the home straight. Later I fought the Lauda Porsche 908, which was quite a bit slower than me and I didnt actually realise we were fighting for position. I nudged him aside and I am sorry for the strong arm tactics but he didnt seem to want to have the position back, when I offered it to him, so I carried on.
I was pleased because I improved my driving over the course of the race. I did have countless close escapes, scraping the wall many many times and having to correct after touching the grass several times. This happened on the 1st lap, on my last lap, and at the times when the tires seemed to go off. My last one shook me up a bit as it could easily have bent the rear suspension. I saw tire marks in the third sector early in the race and I guess someone made it back to the pits with a flat. Our car was literally a tank really and we were able to carry on throughout, not like my previous experiences in the 312P which has rear wheels held on by cellotape.

| Many thanks to HSO and for all those that took part in making this special event. Like my team mate Richard has already stated, this circuit was pretty new to me until a little over a month ago so it was quite a daunting but exciting task trying to get up to an acceptable speed. I think the circuit only really 'clicked' with me during practice on Friday evening - the first time I actually felt comfortable in knowing what corner was coming next. We had a little bit of excitement just before the start of the race - Richard was due to start but at the last minute was unavailable forcing me to slip into my overalls with seconds remaining. A quick prayer was needed as I was going to use those 90 minutes for a quick shakedown with Richards settings and with Real feel enable - I'd deleted it for L2R 24Hr but re-instated it last minute here - I'd managed a few corners of the GP circuit to check that it felt 'ok' but that was it The race was good and I got involved in quite a few good scraps at the back of the field. I must apologise to Lionel I think - prior to the restart I'd closed up again after the Alfa(?) had had a big off. The car was obviously slow - probably damaged - and i was very close exiting the hairpin prior to the carousel. I think the car lifted off a little because I clipped the rear and knocked it sideways. I kept watching to see if it got back up to full speed and i would have let it by again but it appeared to fall away and disappear. Second stint was more exciting. By the time of the last stop Rich had got us up to 6th or 7th and I rejoined the action in 8th. Behind, Tuna Karahan was closing me down at a huge rate of knotts but just as i was resigning myself to having to lose the position within the next few laps he disappeared off the radar. At this point I began to realise - as i upped my speed a little - that I was catching Carl ahead. Initially the gap was ~ 1 minute but was dropping steadily. At about 3 laps to go with the gap at around 10 secs I got a bit of a wiggle on somewhere between Fuchsrohre and Adenauer Forst. Luckily I kept it on the grass and out of the barriers - I'd lost about 8 seconds but knuckled down to chase again. Unfortunately with the gap back to ~ 10 secs Ryan blasted past to put another lap on us and crossed the line ahead to finish the race. I think it could have been close at the finish Congrats to Tristan and Ryan for an outstanding performance - wow, what speed And to our Senior Team in the 917 - Rob and Ant you did a fantastic job again to bring that monster home second And to all who took part ... a big well done Hopefully see you all again soon Jon | |
