The last days we again breached the average of about one post per day. Not bad for a league with not much racing going on... for now.

I knew this place would not just whither away and is bound to bounce back one day.

That being said: does anyone have the slightest idea what the cost to rent a good server for say one year would be?

Cheers,

Timo
Depends on the server, but what we used to rent was about 900€ a year. Plus 100-150€ for the website.

Internet provider came around yesterday and so I'm back online.

If we find one or two people to run a limited initial season, say 10 races over the year, I would not mind too much funding the server. But it would need to be used. Not like the TS-server that in the end was just money in the garbage-bin.

I would go for something very simple: mainly rf2 vanilla content, even if that means that it is not 100% historically correct.

:top:

It is sad to read that HSO closed its doors. I participated here, well, almost around 10 years ago. HSO races were always fun, polite and fair. Big thank you to everybody who made this possible for so many years.

Hi guys, it has been a very, very long time since I've been here. I just wanted to say thank you for the help everyone provided whilst I was an active member here. I have incredibly fond memories of coming back from school, practicing like mad, and then joining a server full of immensely talented sim racers. Without my time here, I wouldn't have learned a thing about real-life driving and racing, I really do owe it to many people here as to what I've learned in motorsport. If there are enough interested racers and a team of admins to run this community, I'm interested in helping with any fees through donations and to hopefully make a comeback to a community I cherish deeply, from my 'teenage' memories. Take care everyone, and once again thank you for teaching me how to race.

Hi Alessio, long time no see indeed Smile
Money has never been the real issue to keep the league running. To restore HSO to its former glory it mostly needs a team of passionnate people ready to spend lots of time to get the league back on its feet. That said something of a smaller scale could be on track for next year thanks to Timo and Paul Daniels, but anyone else with good simracing and historic racing knowledge and willing to help to admin is welcome to be part of it.

My part in this is only small. Just happen to have a spare race server and don't want to see a Historic League come to an end. Would love to see HSO continue as it has been going for a long while. Us historic nuts have to stick together. lol!

Bonjour a tous,

Wink :cowboy:
