Hi, unfortunately unforeseen problems do not allow me to partecipate on sunday evening for at least the next 2-3 months.
So I think it is correct to leave my place free for other guys that will certainly be present.
If the situation changes in the coming months i will see if there will be a free car or I will put myself on the waiting list.
One question: is it still possible for me to enter the online server (not during the races of course) to train myself ? And during those test I can use any car that is free when I login?

Will you post the laps time for qualifying and races?

You can use any car during testing but once the season starts you should only use your assigned car. If, when you return, you want any available cars that will be fine also.

Lap times/etc will be posted but may take some time to configure the rf2 reports for our web page.

OK first post updated with the starting field for this new season :yaa: !

As always we tried to please everybody while keeping it as balanced as possible pace-wise.

Thirteen of you will drive their first choice of car, three will drive their second pick, and six others got their third wish, while David got his alternate fourth one. Steve mate you are the only one who was assigned a car he had not selected. We did give you kinda half of your third choice though in the form of a V12 Alfa-Romeo engine Smile. We’ll make it up to you by allowing you to drive the Escort in the BSCC – we were thinking it was maybe a bit too fast for you, but we’ll see what gives.

Remaining free cars are the #17 Shadow, #22 Ensign, #24 Merzario, #30 Arrows and #36 Alfa-Romeo.

We're quite happy with the turnout, both in quantity and quality :top:, as we did not do a single post of advertising elsewhere. When the Gold Star will be announced (tonight or tomorrow), we will start doing a bit of outside promotion to help fill the remaining seats Wink.

In the meantime, race on !

I guess the Alfa of Vittorio being free means I was too fast for it? Picked it also because it was a nice sound alternative instead of the same Cosworth power.

Funny how it was just falling short of being between average and a shitbox in the original mod :rigol:

I notice that they somehow "downgraded" the Rebaque Lotus' physics. I think they based that more on Hector's driving at the time than the car itself :aie:

Greg even using Hunt for the series? No, come on, no fake names allowed(anyone remember "Pozzi"?) :langue:

(Otherwise he'll have to call himself Rosberg after Monaco! xD)

Yes, we thought the Alfa-Romeo was maybe a bit too fast for you. It does seem a tad faster than in rF1, but it was not such a bad car either in the original version - Gui won the first edition of the championship in it back in '09. As much as I value Gui's talent he couldn't have made it in a shitboxish car :D.

David Jundt wrote:

Yeah, well yes and no I would say. Not having Chapman, Rudd, Wright et al to develop and prepare the cars surely cost more than a few tenths of a second per lap ! Rebaque was also busy building his HR1, so didn't have time and ressources to put in the Lotus, and his 79 was the first built so it didn't have all the refinements and upgrades of the following 79s. But yeah, Hector wasn't exactly a world shaking driver :D. Although I tend to think he was better than what most people think. When at Brabham in 1980-81 he never practiced between races (too busy working in dad's company if memory serves), and only showed up on the evening before first practice at a GP. Same when he went to CART to drive part-time for Gerry Forsythe - still managed to win at Road America although that was a bit of a fluke and the field was nowhere near as strong as in a F1 race.

It's due to private reasons we shan't talk about in here Wink. He's been using this alias online since many years now, so we made an exception.

Backing up Frank, yes you are WAY too fast for that car. I agree the sound is awesome in the Alfas. I really like them but had to go with my old standby especially given that Ferrari is close to mid pack. You are rated as top skill level here sir!

You will do extremely well in your assigned car.

I guess so - funny though that the mods flatters the Alfa even though the car that appeared(late in the season as I think we're on the 179) was nothing more than an also-ran at the time(not helped by the fact "Jack O'Malley" had some offs as did the famous "Monza Gorilla").

I really have to shake my head at what people like Rebaque and Merzario did. Their cars got worse from absorbing stuff.

The HR100 seemed to go backwards rather than be a step ahead... and Hector also once had to retire due to fatigue before '79.

He probably could've done more as you said, but he sounds a bit like the hard-working version of Michael Andretti - Who didn't move to England when he probably should have to be successful!

It seemed like Zunino also wasn't a complete fool, stepped in quite okay when Niki decided to have enough from going in circles.

What I notice is that the Rebaque Lotus seems... probably close to the works Lotus at medium and high speed turns, but a little more slippy when navigating tighter corners.

I guess Greg in the Wolf sounds like a close battle, although the WR usually qualified way higher than Rebaque-Lotus(but its reliability was atrocious). Maybe also the difference between the legends Hunt/Rosberg and someone like Rebaque.

I am still amazed how it was the Mexican that got the deal for a Lotus and not someone else... maybe Chapman knew he wasn't gonna steal points from him :hihi:

Well, if I Twitch stream or report my race on FB, I am not sure I can call him by the name of "Hunt" if we meet on track.

I do admit though that I'd love to have my Italian grandfather's name when racing - "Davide Fazzari" sounds way more amazing than my name by law lol!

Vladimir and Adam in the Lotus and Williams scare me a little - Driving in WSSC for VRC.One and Adam having been quite consistent sounds like a possible duel.

No problem m8,was not sure of the performance of the cars so just just threw 3 choices in,also having never raced or hardly been on rFactor2 its a learning curve,so any car will do :top:

Maybe someone can help me out, i find the cars drive very different offline, primarily under braking/downshifting. The shifts seem much smoother offline, I use auto-clutch both for the race and my offline training, just not sure what setting is different from the server to my offline races. It isnt the end of the world, and my training offline has still translated to good pace online just curious.

Not 100% sure, but I think online server is using real-time weather. It was cold and wet in Imola this weekend

I know the feeling re the arms :D ! I tend to like very strong FFB settings but on rF2 it's nearly impossible as the slightest flat spot on the tyres will translate into me, my desk and the all room shaking to 6.4 Richter scale magnitude affraid Laughing .

Weird about that #35 thing. I'll try and look into it, maybe it's something on our end. Anyways - that'll work for the Shadow :top:
