Standing Start

This will probably sound like a really stupid question
but how do i make a fast getaway from the grid of a race from a standing start ...911 Is the worst ...

I Feel that i have improved a lot since racing on HSO
but always struggle to get off the grid which spoils my race
and whoever is behind me a couple of times ive been so slow off the start
ive held up the person behind me.... The only time i dont seem to have this problem
is when using the mini i think this maybe because its front wheel drive and
all the weight is on the front it has Better grip... But then im only guessing...


I Use a Red Momo steering wheel ,this is my race start sequence i basically
put the car in gear and leave it in 1st then accelerate as soon as the lights change to green ...
Do i need to assign a button to clutch or something ....I Notice everyone reving up around me
but when i do this the car pulls forward and i would get a jump start ...

Am i right in thinking the G25 has a third pedal which you assign as the clutch ...

I Would love to get a G25 but work is in short supply at the moment so will have to hold off
until i can afford one ...

Was also wondering does anyone else on here still use a Red Momo Wheel....

The 911 is not a good car at start. At start it's a real iron whatever you do. The Mini is light and quite reactive it helps at start.

You don't have to worry about your bad start. Those behind, well, that's part of racing you know. It happens the guy in front of you is a bad starter. I've the same problem in F1 79 as the Shadow isn't a good car. And you're not a real bad starter as shown in DTM.

Before my G25 I had a DFP which only has 2 pedals. I assigned a button on the steering wheel for the clutch which I only used for starts. This way I could put the car in first gear, rev it up with the clutch button engaged and launch the car at the green. Another alternative if you don't have a clutch pedal is revving up the car in neutral gear and engaging 1st gear at the green... needs some practice tho and it can hurt some engines badly - not a problem with most rFactor mods I think, but often lethal in GPL .

Il y a une autre solution que j'ai longtemps utilisée.
Il faut affecter l'embrayage à un bouton du volant.
on appuie sur le bouton pour debrayer, on passe la 1ere et on lache le bouton au départ. Ca permet de faire des démarrages presque "normaux".

Same technique than Frank for me

Having a clutch pedal is very useful, especially with low powered cars, it helps you a lot to make the tyres spin. But as you dont have one, use Frank's second technique. Not the best, but still better than what you're doing now I think

I was wondering my engine went in the 911 in the last race
Could this be because i never increased my radaitor size
as i know this is important in some mods ....

Would this decrease the impact of revving the engine in
Neutral before the start of the race if i dont have a clutch ....

The engine blows if you hit first gear carl,mostly if you have revs set at 8000,drop revs 1 click and less chance of blowing it

Are you taking the Miss , i went from 5th to 4th at the end of the main straight
i never went anywhere near 1st gear Leave me alone LOL !!!!

but if your running 8000 rpm in car it will blow with excessive redlining the revmeter when changing gear,drop the revs 1 click in your setup

OK I Have assigned a button on my wheel for the clutch and also tried Franks method of reving in Neutral
changing into 1st when the lights change and both methods work great not sure which one im going to stick to
but both methods work so much better than i expected ...
