I've very mingled feelings about this qualifications :hum: .

First of all I'm happy to make such a time. Well I blow tonight my fastest attempt (again). Too bad as I was able to do a 1.18.xx. But I loose the car at the Casino Hairpin.
Nonetheless it's my best qualifcation ever with a F1. Since my return it's also my best qualification. First time also I beat my teamate in qualifications. David helps me a lot with his advices to make my set. I can't thank me enough for all the time he spent helping me to tune my set. :hello: :chinois:

But...
I'm also not used to be in such position. So I will driving among people usually faster than me. That's really an additional pressure for me (something not really wanted). Let's just hope that all the pressure will not make my brain snapping too early in the race. It could cause a massacre if I crashed in the first laps at the wrong place pale
Let's hope I'm wrong and I'll be able to cope with the pressure.

Thank you David and Brian for help with setup. I tried to ue that tips and make into the race but on this track there is too much space for mistakes and i was not able to put the time down enough. I will definately try to put Modena on grid next race Wink

Good luck Brian, put that loooong V12 also over finish line Wink

Thanks Karel
You were getting closer and closer. I think another hour of practice may given you the chance to put the looney Lambo on the grid

I ended up using  much lower wing in Q. So hard to keep this thing on track for a whole lap. Could have gone much better if managed to put best sectors together. Same story for most of us humans.

Part of me thought, I'll be relieved if I dont have to race this car tomorrow. Those damn Broadcasters catch every mistake I make! I'll try to keep this sh*t bull in one piece and ride it to the finish!
lol!

Quite happy with my 2nd qualifying session as I managed to improve on each attempt, not something I do every day as I hate hotlapping :langue:

Lining up in 8th is promising, but the stacked grip and other small worries make this one a difficult and not so straight-forward race to me.

But hey, that Yamaha V12-sound is cool Cool

OH BY THE WAY, here's the updated texture list guys, for those that are not sure or haven't changed yet:

Pascal, you are a good boy, no doubt, a good driver too, but man, you just cant win the race by kicking everybody out of the race.

I tryed to pass you several times. If I was driving just nearly like you are, we wouldnt finish lap one.
Im ok with figthing for positions, and trying to deffend your position, but there are ways to do it and ways you dont. If you leave some space on the track, and you have several significant faster cars behind you, it is not fair to close that space in moment somebody evertakes you.

Yes, it is a racing incident, but it could have been avoided. You were lucky only I got crashed, but it is just not fair.

You say "dont damage my car please", but ask yourself, what are you doing not to damage yours and other cars!!

I'm not impressed by that incident at all, I know you were faster than me, but when you're not in the right position to overtake, then don't push yourself in! I'm defending my position for a reason and that reason is NOT to take anyone else out.
That incident was indeed avoidable. It was a stupid accident. But I must say with all honesty, that I would not put any more blame on me than the fact that my car was slower than yours! You clearly braked too late or weren't on the right line. Anyways, the suspension damage on my car wasn't easy to handle anyways and so shortly before the end of the race, the gearbox and at the end the clutch took me out, so that wasn't very pleasing.

Just to add to the commentary:

I lost the car the second time by selecting the wrong gear. And yes i took evasive action to avoid Juha while braking. So there was no intend to overtake there, but it would have happend some corners later i think.

Race:

I switched my strategy from 1 stop to 2 stops during the race, because of the traffic. Well two laps before my regular second stop i was having lack of concentration and lost it at turn 2. My front wing crossed the canadian river and i had to limp back to the pits. I lost probably a 4th place to Michal Janak. I was pushing hard in the end with low 1.22s, but it wasnt enough to catch him.
Nevertheless finally the first finish after my podium at Phoenix. 2 points are really valuable if you lose your 2nd place with 3 laps to go at Monaco :champ: The pace was always there the last races, so lets see what will be possible next. Montreal was not my favorite track.

Thanks HSO. Great season with early 90s F1 and CART 1988, and the great broadcast.

After good quali and some test before the race i hoped for my 2nd podium here at HSO but the luck lost just before start, first i get to strat position there was only 20% of the engine, jumped out an tryed next Oh no 5% red , tryed 3rd and finaly 96 % but the next bad point the FF completely zero, nearly undriveable and lostmany positions , the wheel was like without power, completly dead no rezistance :smil20:

nightmare for first 20 laps before i little acomodate to this bad feeling, on opening laps i was thinking about quit the race

lapping slower than before in warmup, very flustrating and falled to no points position

at the end very tyred because of bigger concentration to drive without knowving the state of ty tyres , dot feel wheel lockings etc Rolling Eyes

the 4th place then was a miracle for me

I think you were moving while braking for the turn and left no room for any car. You took the outside line at the bend before the harpin to defend that line, but moved back then while braking. Raul was too close to avoid you, but one car length space should have been left by you on the outside braking zone for the harpin. He could have been more aware of that situation (as he surely know that you were driving that way; that would have been better for his race), but you clearly changing lines.
If everyone is doing that in racing, we will have lots of contacts every race. You only can take a defensive position, and make it difficult for the other car to turn around the harpin to give you an advantage in acceleration for the next turns.
You should practise clear driving, otherwise it will ruins your race sometimes as it did this time.

Congrats on Yet another Win D Jaques
And to Mick and Ludo on Podium
Kowalski is an alien
Juha gets both Bennies in the points!

I messed up trying to let people lap me a couple times. I think it was Ryon in turn 1-2? Sry if I confused you. I was clumsy on that one.
Other than that good stuff, and a long stressful match w/Swindells
I'm going to go watch the broadcast now Ltr

superb broadcast my friends! :top: :top:

but damn think the mechanics forgot tune the engines right for the Judd v10s

I had good a nice balanced setup but for some strange reasons i was  loosing already places  before my only planned pitstop around lap 40 again i was aiming for a p6 but i couldn't keep pace with the top 6 during mid race. the judd v8 from the "arditi" was much faster which realy tells me i had maybe too high wings , 35 37 or there was something wrong with the powersupply
the fresh tires felt very good and and i could push now very hard with the low fuel load untill in a sudden the engine expired , ... :grrr:  , i was following the lotus but not gaining as fast as i expected so that could be the answer some serious loss of power
ofcourse a disapointment but he what a race
such nice dices with Gerard, Paolo and David, just awesome

Im very happy for Ludo and Mick finaly a rewarding feeling to you guys:yaa:
and David mate you such a nice driver to squeeze out the power out of each car , dont be disapointed more fun race will follow:D

David mate, congrats for you home victory :first:  and cya all at a Mexico!!!

Tighten your seatbelts! otherwise you will bumbed out your seat if not :D

cheers everybody

like to know
what wings you guys running

@ Peter how thick you brake disks were
( blowing one at lap 22 i can tell it was not 2.6 max disk? or was it)

PostSubject: Why?   Round 5 - Grand Prix Molson du Canada [Mar 5th] - Page 4 Icon_minitimeMon 6 Mar 2017 - 18:21

@ Ludovic Tiengou : on lap 47 i left you the space to pass me because I was 1 lap behind, and i had blue flags. So i was a backmarker and I had to do that, this is the rule. But after less than 10 laps I was on 1.24 pace and i was running trying to catch Ryon for 8th place. On lap 57 I closed the distance (not the real gap) to you and you were clearly slower than me (I though you were on fuel-economy run to mantain your 3rd place without taking any risk). After that, I lost many seconds driving close to you till the end of the race and I could't gain nothing to Gerard. I hoped you left me race on my line, you had not anyone pushing on you , we were not in battle in any case, but it didn't happen...  the question is : why?
