J'ai essayé quelques tours, mais c'est beaucoup trop puissant pour moi par rapport au tracé. Donc je vais laisser ma voiture à un plus téméraire que moi.

my car is also free...I connected my G25 after cca 2 years without racing and the AC power device is dead Ive already ordered replacement but I guess it wont be here before the race

Im managing to get .01.400, maybe could get under this sec within a week, but is this close enough not to be an obstacle on the track??

I was getting this race as a fun race, not a championship one (even those are also rubish without fun), and now Im concerned about the aura rising up with "slow" times...

Don't worry Raul, Carl is also quite busy at the moment and doesn't have a whole lot of time to practice I believe, I'm sure he will correct me if I'm wrong

Raul that is correct to get a good time out of this track it takes practice and i am short of time at the moment ...
Your best time is a lot quicker than what i was doing .. And i was struggling with some of the slower corners so don't listen to me ... Its not a championship race its just for fun

You don't have to worry about your laptimes, as long as you are not out of the track at every turn it's good enough. I think I have to remember that everyone is welcome here (open or championship), no matter what your speed is. The only thing we ask is a nice behaviour on track and a good control of the car.

Let's not all get too worried about an alien getting mad at a slower driver due to an incident while lapping. It happens. The fastest drivers are often super passionate about their pace and are locked in mentally to win. 2nd means first to lose. Just as in real racing, when an issue occurs they get pissed.

What we slow drivers must remember (I am one of them) is that we are welcome here. One recommendation is to first focus on making the setup stable so when in traffic you can maintain a line and hopefully not lose it. Never make a setup that locks the rear wheels under hard braking EVER. That has "I am going to take out the leader when I panic brake" written all over it. Second suggestion, never panic brake Lower rear fast and slow bump to transfer weight to the rear tires when needed if brake adjustment bias does not fix it.

I will likely be slow as molasses on a cold day in this race but my setup is already stable and the two corners that kill me (especially the #$%^ing reducing off camber corner just before the back straightaway) cause me to go off track well out of the way of anyone else so I am safe. But I am racing damnit! My goal is to 1) Finish 2) minimize being lapped 3) beat those I am close to in time 4) clean operations whil under a blue flag (which, by the way is an image burned into my monitor due to frequency).

Now to get the damn times near 1 minute before the weekend

Yes that is absolutely right. And never forget that, while the lapped car must do his part and stay out of the way, IT'S ALWAYS THE RESPONSABILITY OF THE OVERTAKER to do it cleanly.

For those still in doubt about how to let a quicker car pass, here are some general rules:

Quote :

1) Never, ever, move from the racing line. Just follow your usual line, he is faster and will find a way to get by. Be predictable by doing the usual.

2) Never, ever, brake earlier than you usually do. The fastest guys can outbrake you any day, so just brake at your usual point and don't surprise him by doing it earlier. In these cars the closing speed is too fast.

3) Don't try to let a faster driver pass you in the middle of a chicane or a series of corners. He will have to wait, and it's no problem. Any quick driver will not like being held up by you on a series of corners, but they will accept it. What will make them mad is that you slow even more and move all around in an attempt to let them pass in such an inadequate place.

4) The best ways to let a quicker driver pass are:

a) Under braking: If he is behind you on a straight, brake as usual at the end but delay your turn in point and go slightly forward braking, then turning in hugging the exterior of the track and do the rest of the curve as usual.

b) After a corner: Stay hugging the outside and short shift the first two gears. That will give the quicker guy enough momentum to pass you easily.

At Portland there are few places to pass safely, so there are some do's and don'ts.

- The best places to get by someone (Or let a faster driver pass) are under braking at turn 1 and accelerating for the backstraight out of turn 7.

- The series or corners 4-6 is a bad place to do something stupid. If there really is a big difference in speed, the faster guy can get by there, but that is his decission and risk. You just do your part staying in the race line.

- Turns 10 and 11 are NOT a place to overtake or let someone pass. There is a huge difference in speed between slower and faster guys entering turn 10, the track is narrow and comprises a series of corners, so it's an ABSOLUTE NO-NO. If you are faster, you will overtake easily by outaccelerating the guy in front of you out of the last corner (Turn 12) and using the front straight and outbraking (if necessary) at turn 1.

I hope this helps, but I will also upload later a safe race setup for those who are at a loss adjusting their car and feel not completely in control of it.
