I Love my dURACELL Car but as you know im not very good when it comes to making setups
my main problem is my car swapping ends when changing down through the gears
and also under heavy braking for slow coners ......

On this track there are some long straights with slow bends at the end
and im struggling to get a decent lap in without swapping ends in the car .....

Im happy with my setup other than this problem .....

Any Ideas Wink

Make sure you have the autoclutch enabled and your "Auto lift" and "Auto blip" values set on 1 in your .PLR file. I think that's the only gearbox related things you can tweak :hum:

Alrighty then, my thoughts on, well, this.

So after giving it every second of the session I had at my disposal, I can safely say I absolutely loathe this machine. To call it a car would be flattery it nowhere near deserves. I don't believe I've ever had the displeasure of driving such a wretchedly awful vehicle before, honest. I find it incredibly annoying to drive and contains no sense of predictability, besides the knowledge that it will be junk this lap as much as the last and will probably be on the next. I did the majority of the session with a half tank of fuel and hards to get to know the car on the track, never above boost three and it was still awful. A switch to softs just made the car worse. It understeers like something I would never expect out of a car that looks like this, with that wonderful touch of unpredicted snap oversteer. Really the best handling combination you want out of a car. To think they really drove these things if they drove like this is impossible and I feel for them if that's the case. I really don't think this creation really represents what they had to drive back then. I couldn't put together a consistant run of laps I expect to do and normally do in my "learning" sessions and I think judging by my other results I can safely say I know a thing or two about making a racecar work. Getting the car to even react like you expect it to setup wise is harder than getting the last tenths/hundreths out of an F1 car. I used Gui's with some tweaks to try to suit it to the Penske, I tried Pierre's (thanks mate) but I really think it's safe to say these cars and me don't mix, don't really like eachother too much. I get zero enjoyment out of driving this and it's all really an experience I feel sad to have had to be honest, lol. I don't consider this "giving up", I'm not being paid to drive by PENSKE, so I'm just relieving myself of the displeasure. To imagine the experience of driving this car for 50 laps in a race situation I can only compare to assigning Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost a group project to prepare on the benefits of banning motor racing in December of 1989. Thanks, but no thanks.

To close, I'll quote beloved Forrest Gump; "And that's all I have to say about that."

Very Happy

lol Sasha I feel very much the same. Hotlapping is particularly boring with those cars but I look forward to the race. I had fun in Mid-Ohio just as a racer and was able to put aside what kinda of simracing physics I had between my hands and just enjoy racin' a race. I intend to do the same Sunday Smile .

That's weird, I dont feel anything of what you're describing here, I guess you're just not driving the car the way it's supposed to be, very smoothly and cleanly. For sure it's way different to the oversteering beasts like F1 79, WSC70 or GTP where you can exit turns in full powerslides. Here the cars are just not made for that.

Yea, I don't know, they just don't suit me. Also before I came here I raced modern F1 cars in leagues for 2 years, they suited me brilliantly so I don't know. I can drive/enjoy the classic beasts, I can drive/enjoy the modern cars that stick and all that, but these, meh, just not in my range. I can drive the car to get a somewhat decent lap out of it but there's no enjoyment in it for me at all.
