For the second time in two feature races, I throw away the possibility of a good points haul with a silly mistake on the first lap. Bleh. :smil20:

Still like my Mondeo though. Looking forward to some tighter tracks.

Great racing, Victor!

Yeah for sure that was good ! You'be too nice ! :D ,seems my tyres gones away a little more early than yours.

The first race was tuff with David, with a very late brake on the first corner, but i've to slow down with a car in trouble on the front and david return on my back, finally i make a mistake on 9 th lap and lost 3 place.

Second race was better, someone bump me on the second corner and i feel another touch after the lauda curve, when i saw the replay,it was Jan Titz, sadly he go on the grass, sorry for that, but i've no room + a damage back (and then a damage on the right back suspension)
But i only lost 1 or 2 tenth per lap,and i have a great fight with Freideirik,i pass him when my tyres where on good shape. :conduit:
Nearly got David when he make a mistake at the end but he stay in front.(that was fair,i passed you when you avoid a spuny car)

14 th and 12 th and more and more capable with my Mondeo, cant' wait the next race :cowboy:

Results and Points are up, please let me know if there are any mistakes.

That was probably one of the most fun events I've had this year. Thanks to Steve, Anders and Richard for making that possible, will go for a full report tomorrow, but thanks once again for some great, hard, close, clean action in both races  :drink:

And Hearty congratulations to Steve, finally back on form :champ:

Well, that was a difficult event to maintain a good situation in...

Practice:
Found out early on that the track would be tricky for the Nissan. While it was, relatively, very quick down the back straight it had very little grip in traffic, just like the case was at Spa.
But I managed to find a nice balance in the car to deal with both single and group racing, should such situations occure.

Qualifying:
I knew I should have the pace to set a pole position worthy time, but getting it together is something I usually struggle with. The advantage in this series is that the fact that there is a Sprint Race followed by a Feature Race, means that an overall setup is more appropriate which I seem to be good at with these.
After a few laps of trying I got down to the 54,2 which I wasn't actually sure would be good enough for pole. Went out late to set another lap, ran wide at Tiroch, touched the grass on the exit and the car swept sideways into the infield and a barrier.
Was a tense wait but in the end it proved that the time was good enough for pole.

Sprint Race:

Had a so-so start, bogged down slightly, which saw both the Bimmers of Anders and Steve fly past before the Hella-Licht-S and later in the lap I ran slightly wide at Tiroch and Richard had a run on me and he made his way past as well, didn't want to force anything against my teammate.

I was sat there, behind Steve, Anders and Richard for a few laps waiting for the scraps to fall off of the table, which came when Steve started to lose a bit of pace. Had several runs and attempts at getting past, but Steve put up some excellent Super Touring defensive moves.
In the end I had another run off Tiroch along the back straight and braved it around the outside at the kink before Bosch and Steve decided to back out so I could outbrake him into the turn and chase after Richard and Anders.

A couple of laps later Richard had a moment at Hella-Licht-S, neither of us are sure exactly what happened, but he ended up going straight through and had to let me and Anders past.

The last few laps I spent trying to chase after Anders and I were quicker at Hella-Licht-S and in the in-field section but Anders was very strong off Tiroch and Rindt.
Unfortunately for me, I made a mistake at Hella-Licht on the second to last lap which meant it would take a mistake from Anders, so I decided to just try to make it as quick a lap as possible to give me as good a chance as I could to get by, didn't quite get clsoe enough but got to within .015 of my Qualifying time on old tires, so it was a smoking hot lap :aie:

Congratulations Anders, awesome drive and Steve as well for 3rd, some stern but good and fair defensive driving.

Feature Race:

So, again onto the race of each meeting that can either keep you in the championship or kill your charge in more or less an instance...

Yet again, both Anders and Steve outstarted us FWD drivers, but I were able to hold onto 3rd ahead of Ricardo and Juha in their Evil Empire Audis.

I was very tired yesterday so can't remember it all that well but I'll go over the highlights that I do remember.

Early on I think I was able to get past Steve in the same place as before, on the run through the kink into Bosch Curve. Was a near carbon copy move of the R1 pass.

Afterwards followed
a brilliant defensive drive by Anders. I tried pretty much everything I could but because he was soooo good off Tiroch it was nie impossible to get by.
In the end, we both had a bit of a brain fade in our attempts to stay ahead and get past, both braking too late for Hella-Licht-S and skitting off. Anders had an almighty lose rear end and I promptly decided to throw it across the infield instead of making contact with his car. Sorry to Steve who had to make an almighty avoidance of me when I rejoined, that was quite a bad one...

After that I was sat behind Steve and Anders as they were duking it out, putting on a brilliant display while I were trying any and all opportunities to find a gap. But at the same time I didn't want to throw away the extra good points a top 3 finish means in the longer race.

Had a go at Anders around the outside at Bosch, when he backed out of a move on Steve, but as soon as I broke for the turn I knew I was into deep ****, had to work a lot to keep the car off the wall, I hit it in the first race and was keen to avoid doing so a second time.
Finally I got my chance when Anders got a run up the inside going towards the first left of the infield section and decided to back out. I was sitting behind Steve and broke late, we had a bit of door handle rubbing as I swapped around to the inside with a cut-back move and made my way past to seal the pass into the 2nd left.

Anders was congratulative of the pass so went ahead and stayed ahead despite the contact that we had made. Chased after Steve but I couldn't quite make a move and then I lost track of the location of the braking marker for Rindt, broke way too early and Anders promptly put himself up the inside. He was past on the 2nd to last lap and despite looking for a good run down the front stretch I couldn't get past at Hella-Licht-S.
Had a good run through the infield but ended up a bit too close for comfort at the right before Raiffeisenhügel, said sorry to Anders on TS as I tried to avoid his rear end, broke and took to the grass, had had too good of a run off the lefthander before.

So had to settle for 3rd but it was a close finish between the 3 of us.

Excellent battles fella's, congratulations on the podiums and wins Steve and Anders. That was a lot of fun and I hope both of you felt the same during and after the races.

Overall I extended the gap by another few points so I'm happy with that but considering my practice pace it's a bit dissapointing to not win either of the races, but oh well, at least it's good for the championship that more drivers are getting the wins :drink:

Thank you to everyone who showed up and excellent work in both races from what I could see, both in getting to the finish and avoiding retirements Smile

Wanted to announce my absence before the race(I kinda mentioned somewhere I'd miss R3 to someone) as I was at a Jethro Tull concert, but forgot.

Sorry! Sleep
