I know isn't it. He's still so competitive. That's actually a really good YouTube channel. They also have one with Foyt. I could listen to these fellas talk all day!

What screw adjustment gave them more boost? Was it the wastegate spring? Or was it a mechenical boost controller? I'm so intregued.

I think it was the spring, as they had no adjustable controller in the cockpit. Bobby Unser was really annoyed by Gurney's decision not to install it when all the other teams already had it, just because Gurney feared Bobby would have it screwed to the maximum all the time and blow the engines or waste all the fuel  Laughing

That's Mario doing, adjusting boost to maximum all time and blowing the engine or wasting fuel

Anyone have a chance to watch the Nascar race at Charlotte Roval? They had windshield wipers! I was in shock!! I was hoping for rain!! Buuut it didn't. It was actually a good race, lots of action and its quite entertaining watching modern Nascar drivers turn right :rigol:  as I expected lots of over driving and wrecks.

Here's the final laps. I thought it was funny and seen it coming a mile away.  :aie:

I watched it.

Some troll in the comments tried to tell people that the wipers would give more downforce Razz

JJ out, that's fine with me. Never was a hughe fan of him or Gordon, JJ wouldn't have won so many titles without the stupid Chase format, he's not really a legend to me :langue:

I've never been a fan of JJ or Gordon either. The stupid chase format is terrible. I do like the looks of the cars as we have the camaro and the mustang next year. It's so hard for me to like modern drivers they're just to pretty and cheezy.

Kyle Larson is a great driver, he's from up here in Cali where I'm from. He's won tons of dirt oval races against some pretty tough driver's out here but I still have no favorite driver.

Davey Allison has a son and he's been working his way up the hard way. Hopefully he makes his way into the Cup cars we'll see.

to me its a real shame, i grew up watching nascar races, and even though some were strung out and a bit dull, they were actually racing.  and when it was close at the end it made it that much more significant and exciting.  every gimmick they have implemented to "make the racing more exciting" to me has made it less and less of an actual race.

im not fully up to speed on who is where in the playoff points, but just watching the last laps clip my hunch is JJ needed the win to go to the next round?  so the rules put the driver in a scenario where he had to go for an impossible desperate move that was never going to work, and the consequence is it takes out someone else minding their own business.  chaos, smoke and "excitement", but not good racing.

get rid of the playoffs, get rid of the segment stuff, get rid of the group qualifying, put all the rules back the way they were, simple, straightforward, no gimmicks.  then make sure there are at least 10 spots available at every race for attempts to qualify in on pace.  that would be a good start, then for the cars get rid of anything restrictor plate for any track not daytona or tally, start stripping aero and grip until the speeds are reasonable.

Actually, the teams believe that it does. When NASCAR began "rain racing" in the early 2000's, i.e. when Goodyear introduced a Rain tire for them for Road courses. The Road cars had to have a brake light in the rear window as well as a Wiper post. The original procedure was to be, when it became a wet race, part of the stop for rain tires was to put the wiper on. Most of the time the teams ran without it on. However, a year or so ago, thee teams began running all the time on the Road courses with the Wiper on the car, some of the teams were experimenting with the wipers position on the window, and they found there is a very, very minor difference. To the point that NASCAR has or is considering a rule for next year that teams can not run the wiper blade on the car unless there is rain.
