I'm going to buy a new gaming PC with Win10. I remember people noticed some kind of issues with running rF. Is it wise to move to 10? And if there are problems with rF&Win10 combination, can they be cured? Any experience? Thanks for your inputs.

Sorry if this has already been discussed in some other thread.

8GB DDR3, NVIDIA GT730 Graphics 2 GB,

Nvidia Geforce GTX 1070
i7-6700K CPU @ 4 GHz
16 GB RAM
64bit Windows 10

Only slight issues I'd say, I had a hard time to get it displayed in a similiar way of rF2 on Steam. Running it in window mode to be able to jump out of the game. Was a pain at first because the PC "fixed" the window at a spot and I couldn't move it to where I wanted, missing a bit of the lower bottom.

But otherwise, wheel and such were recognised without problems.

EDIT: I did have some problem come up/back at Kyalami: Suddenly got a game crash(while leading) and I still don't know why it happened. Hasn't returned since, but I haven't been taking part in as long races since then... Suspect

I started running Win 10 some months back and everything runs fine. Even GPL runs perfectly under GEM+ and rFactor is no issue at all. Just had to buy a new registration code for rFactor as I still had one for v 1.255f and it is now 1.255h or something. And the key for the former was an issue for the latter.

The only issue I have had since is that twice, after an automatic update from Win 10, my pedals stop working as the drivers are not correctly updated. De-installing and reinstalling the drivers cured it twice. But you then have to recalibrate and reassign in the sims as it messes up the naming of the different peripherals. Joystick 1 becomes Joystick 3 and vice versa.

I then tried to disable the automatic updates. That's when you start realising how intrusive Win 10 is. You can actually not disable automatic updates... The only thing you can do, is set your connection as "metered." Win 10 will then not automatically download updates but will give a notification through the action center. Which means Win 10 is still monitoring your system someway.

Besides that, Win 10 proves to be an enjoyable stable platform.

Just my 2cents.

Timo

Yesterday I finally got my new PC with Win10. For some reason, my old rF was crashing. I got into the game, selected the car and track and... Boom, CTD,the track didn't even try to load. So I tried to install the Steam version and it's running without any issues. I'm not very happy though, as I used separate lite installs for each mod. My first race will be the Indy 500 on Sunday, I hope there won't be some technical problems.

Did you read David's post about folders to install rF into here above? Maybe that could help.
