Hey guys ! Here is a little onboard video of a short reconnaissance run

Kart : 1983 Birel T12 - Cadet Tyres

The geezer missing apexes is yours truly  :hihi:

There might be more, hopefully more eventful ones in the future :top:

:D First time I saw Ant simracing in real life is when he came over at my place for holidays - I thought he was going to break my G25 in half lol! Never seen someone so physical behind a steering wheel it was shocking !

Oh believe me I am :D If you don't grip it firmly the kart goes pretty much where it pleases ! And as Frank said, it is my style  :hihi:

Will be looking for a new camera mount, maybe helmet, because with this harness the image is too low indeed.

No racing allowed with old karts unfortunately, but maybe a few great events to come, will keep you guys posted Wink

As Frank, my wheel had to support Antoine's arms too, and it said me "never again". :D

I completely ripped the internals of two FFB wheels before switching to a TSW, so I might beat Antoine at least in something :D

Very Happy  Very Happy  :top:

Very Happy

How much power output do those engines have Antoine? Smile

Oh dear, not much :D around 15hp would be good for such an old engine (first produced in 1967 !)

Top speed very much depends on the track and sprocket you use, but I would guess I rarely go above 80km/h. That said, it is good enough for great sensations. geek

Enfin, presque 62 aujourd'hui :D

Last week-end, on the mythical Pista Azzura in Jesolo, near Venice, was held the Coppa dei Campioni, or ASI Go-Kart show. It is one of the biggest - if not the biggest - historic karts meeting in the world, with 100+ drivers from all over Europe and even more karts ranging from roughly 1956 to 1989.

Here is a few videos I made driving some of these lovely little beasts Cool

The first one is a run on a friend's Deavinsons Sprint, a British chassis from 1976, which looks like that :

And here is the run :

Then, here is a shorter run with a funny little thing, a French-made GLOBB-KART from 1961 ! One of the oldest kart ever built in France.

After a run in a 70's kart, it feels a bit like hopping from a F5000 into a Mini, but good fun anyway  :D

And finally, the most eventful run hands down, driving my Italian 1981's DAP equipped with cadet tyres

If there is only one run to watch, this is the one  :D

Enjoy :hello:

Great videos, shame about the bump with the other guy, any damage sustained to either kart?

What was the wally doing who was stood in the middle of the pitlane? Laughing

Lol Antoine why did you cut the recording, at the end of the video it looked as if the other guy was going for you, we could have seen Karting and Boxing in one Laughing

I'm no expert in karts at all, but it looked to me as some really good driving by you Smile which is anyway not surprising as you have talent and I guess also a good amount of kms. under your belt :top:

The poor guy is my buddy Claude, he actually broke his engine trying to stay in front :D

And when you dont have gears, when the engine breaks, well the rear wheels instantly lock affraid I was too close to avoid him.

He actually pushed me back onto the track moments later, but in the excitement I forgot to turn the camera back on. No damage to either karts and drivers. (Well apart a broken engine obv :aie: )

And yes, those pits are messy, that's Italy for you :urgence:

Never quite happy with my driving, but I guess it's still better than if it was worse :hihi:

That Globb looks like some seriously aching knees, the way the driver is squeezed into...

Yeah these old frames are ridiculously tiny, I'm 1m82 so we can assume the average driver in the 60's was some 10cm shorter, but still very much a knee breaker ^^

By 1963-1964, they were already producing more "normal-looking" karts on which drivers have a more laid-back position. This is really prehistory of karting !
