I can't tell how and why, I mean, what parts could be used for an F1 car? scratch

I remember that yes, wasn't it mostly about Cosworth DFRs he had on some cars he owned ?

I think he also confirmed that Éric Bernard pushed Gregor Foitek into the wall at Monaco when he was 6th and could have scored a point. It was never shown on broadcast though I believe, only the laps before it... It's the reason I dislike Bernard Twisted Evil

I remember that one very well for not only was I here to watch the race (didn't see the Bernard/Foitek collision though), but I also got to sit in Bernard's car after the race while it was brought back to the paddock. It was an awesome experience, the seat was still warm and it all seemed so tiny and confined ! That made my day for sure  :jp: !

Thanks for the update on Karl Foitek, he seemed like a nice enough guy and a true enthusiast, but I still hated him for kicking my favourite driver out of the team to put his crasher of a son in his seat  Evil or Very Mad :D !

1. I thought it had more to do with fixing the suspension parts like arms and linkage...

2. You should have slapped Éric back then, he deserved it! Not to mention he scored more points anyway!

Haha yes Jean-Pierre van Rossem was one crazy mofo indeed :D !

No no, he was just Belgian... Arrow

Incredible how, after all these years, people still believe he was a professor at the Leuven university. He started out with a tutoring office in Leuven assisting students who had it difficult. He made good money with that but nowhere near enough to run a Formula 1-team and similar extravaganza. And even then, there were rumors about fraud. Students did not get mere assistance with studying, but entire papers were written for them and they just handed them in. That kind of stuff.

Anyway, he made good money with that and with it started Moneytron. That was indeed sold as a formula or algorithm or whatever that could predict the evolution of gold and petrol prices, and on the back of that, trends on the stock exchanges. Which, as anyone with a minimum of common sense post financial melt down knows, is complete horsesh...

Common consensus is that Moneytron was in fact a big hoax that allowed to launder black money. And if JPVR would have kept a low profile, he would have made a fortunate with it. Except, if he was bad at something, it was exactly at keeping a low profile.

For those of you who do not know the person, short movie of JPVR taking a journalist for a ride in one of his Ferrari's. In Flemish unfortunately. They mainly argue about what is best: 911 or Ferrari.

When JPVR was declared bankrupt, he avoided being prosecuted for fraud by forming his own political party. He managed to get him self elected for one stint in Parliament. That election entailed receiving a considerable sum of money to fund his newly formed party. But JPVR used that money to... buy a Ferrari 456.

All in all, even if the guy was a big fat crook in essence, those kind of antics dress him with a kind of hard to resist charm, IMO. Kind of a mellow real live version of Tony Soprano. Just my 5 cents, obviously.

Timo

Yes I agree overall I kinda liked him I guess, at least he was a change compared to the usual PR-friendly folks that filled the F1 scene ! Provo king for sure, but took advantage of what I see as a crooked system in essence and made millions out of dumb billionaires so no harm done, really :D ! It's not like he bankrupted hard-working prols you know, and also I will always respect anyone who dilapidates a fortune in racing :D !
