It's certainly a tough one lol!

During the first part of the season, the Mongoose is the slowest car but the chassis is not bad - it just lacks downforce and power. On the second half, after the rule changes, the Foyt is more competitive and there is less downforce in all cars, so the shortcomings in the shitties Offy powered cars become more evident.

Between Atlanta and Finley, the Atlanta has a better chassis. It was a top car some years before, whereas the Finley was hastily built (Better: Frankestanized) in the backyard garden of someone (Literally. Not even shade tree mechanics, but a garden Shocked )

Robin Miller was a part of the Finley for some of these years, may explain one or two things about its shortcomings!

Oh, come now. You actually mean getting a setup from Bob Wilson.

Nobody tests in this series! lol!

Statements with no facts. Yes there are people that test and put in long practice sessions. Bob Wilson and myself put in over 110 laps each Monday night.

Bob and myself tested with our own setups and then at the end of the test we sent each other our setup.
We tested for approx one hour including fast laps and running together to see how the car is effected when following another car.
I need to do a full fuel run to see how my tyres wear over the length of the run.

I should add
DON'T HIT WALLS

not really easy to do. Not sure I'll be able to finish this one as it required a very smooth driving all along the 150 laps pale Having the Chevy block helps a lot but not enough as my poor driving skills get me in trouble more often than required

I just put it under 26 seconds  :cowboy2: Round 16 - Phoenix (Dec 18th) - Page 3 1623587389

A really good driver could sure go down to 25.6 or 25.7, I see where those missing tenths are, but I just lack the talent to snatch them pale

Sorry, BoB. As I said, I was just joking. But I actually wanted to compliment Bob Wilson on being a Grand Master at oval setups and having a steady hand on the tiller!

Just to prove how obsessive I am about testing, the ol' #11 will have over 13,000 miles on her before we qualify on Sunday. And I didn't land the seat until the Michigan 200! Rolling Eyes

I really do appreciate you guys who put in the laps and get things sorted, versus not showing up until race day and slinging debris all over the track like a manure spreader!

Thank you for the kind words Scott. I really do not consider myself to be a setup expert, although I do draw from real life experience on pavement tracks from the 60's & 70's. Some of that experience relates to these cars and I try different settings until something works with a good lap time. As far as testing is concerned, I believe testing is imperative if you want to be a competitive race car driver. My Patrick Eagle has 19,897.6 miles on it since the Bettenhausen 200 in September.

HSO has many drivers who have never seen an oval track and I have enjoyed very much working with a number of them. I have also received help from many of them as well, including you Scott. I believe that when drivers get their cars to handle well, the better and more competitive the racing will be and that makes HSO better. This is a great MOD, and it has been a pleasure for me to be associated with all of you. It's been a very exciting time for an old man to be welcomed into this group of great people. Thank you. Very Happy

It will be a very hard race. I've got a big problem with my front left tyre temperature. It overheats in 10 laps and start then to degrate at an accelerated pace. affraid The 20 last lap of a stint are really slippery and prone to get the car in the wall. For the race it will be a huge handicap as I haven't find any solutions.

For the replay I'm sure there will be some nice artistic crash as the car (well the Chevy at last) is doing quite some loops when I hit the pit fence...it's always finishing in the pitlane too. Could be a issue during the race for those doing their pitstop if someone crash and flow past the fence at the same time.

For qualifications it will be a back start again. No matter hard I try I'm unable to breach the 26 barreer in qualification boost. My topspeed is just above 284 (at the expense of a very touchy car with little wing) when I see on the servor the Offy going 10 KMH faster.
I was hoping I could struggle for points. Not sure I can manage it scratch . A good driver could surely do something here with the Chevy block (perhaps even a top 5). But I'm not of that stuff:pale:

You mean the right front?

There is some setup work that will improve it, but above all it's your driving. If you push too much at corner entry, you will destroy it.

The right front tyre is getting very hot very fast.
But don't worry Alberto. I've nothing to hope during the race. Even seeing the checkered will be an exploit (and not just for me I think Smile ) as I crash very often in training.

I will give you a setup dont worry. Wheels should be good at 1.75, the car had in real life 720º, but put whatever lock makes you move your steering wheel just 90º to the left normally to take the turn.
