It is strange, however, in designs of bolides 2014, I am inclined to perceive the influence of the early nineties.

The McLaren wouldn't be too bad if they painted it in a livery like this...

The good thing with watching F1 on poor streams, is that you don't get to see how ugly the cars are. Thankfully, in France the F1 is on pay per view now.

They really have arrived to a point where they should stop, think about it and rewind at least 20 years. This all is making no sense at all, it's more and more like Scalextric or an arcade game instead of real motorsports  Suspect .

The rules are so restrictive, they are kinda forced to exploit every opportunity or every loophole they can find. On the other hand, IndyCar for example, have no excuse for bringing an ugly car as it's a spec series.

I quite like most of the cars if you ignore the noses, unlike the Ferrari - I think the overall design of that car is not very appealing to my eyes Razz

Wasn't alcohol banned from F1 advertising?  scratch Probably Martini also makes soft drinks? If that works, I can already envision Jack Daniels bottling soda for their bourbon and sponsoring a stock car drunken

Martini has been a Ferrari sponsor for the past few years, nothing new Wink

The Jack Daniels liveries in V8 Supercars all look great (as did the NASCAR one), too bad they are sponsoring the Kelly sisters. It'd look awesomer on another car.

I don't think cigarettes and alcohol sponsoring was ever banned in F1, it just was drastically reduced due to the fact that most the countries in which the cars run have strict laws regarding advertising for such products Wink So the brands got tired of not being able to display their make in half of the races of the year. Good riddance :D .

The European Union banned tabacco advertisement in 2005 if I'm correct. But there are ways...Philip Morris is still sponsoring the Ferrari F1 car...they just changed the logo and of course no letters 'Marlboro'.

The Marlboro barcode has even been disallowed as it's a recognisable entity of the company now, so has now been replaced with "Scuderia Ferrari" in a similar logo to that of Marlboro.

As far as alcohol goes, I think it's only permitted in Australia, the UK, USA, and probably a few others but it is heavily banned in the Middle-Eastern and Islamic countries as well as Russia..

Those paying attention will also notice that Red Bull (Singha) and Force India (Kingfisher) have had alcohol advertising for years - nothing new Razz

Today I watched for the first time this year some minutes of the F1.

It was utterly disgusting.

The cars are horrible, the sound is a disgrace, the racing was boring. And what's worse, what I really noticed this time, is that the F1 has folded a page and gone into a different era. Watching all the nonesense of the energy recovery, DRS, turbo, fuel pressure and the continuous touching of buttons as if they were piano players reminded me more of a console arcade in the "Wipeout" style than of real auto racing.

Guys like Kimi, Alonso or Button look simply ridiculous in these cars, you can't just link together that display of stupid arcade with the faces of people who raced so different cars not long ago. Ricciardo, Bottas, etc are OK and believable, but the older guys are as out of place as watching Mansell and Prost playing on a console.

Ridiculous.

I'm done with F1 completely, it's over. Thanks God you can find today at Youtube all the good old CART races from the 90s, so I will watch at least some real racing.
