There are lot of drivers looking for teammates. With your speed you WILL be wanted. No sense in running alone in Sedan B.

Heck I am now in a GTU and a GTO car.

Important - Caution
--> HSO 1974 IMSA-SCCA ADD-ON <--
I've updated the addon IMSA - SCCA.
You have to install it. It corrects a bad issue with the driver swapping.

Me and Myself will me entering our Ford Capri RS 2600 #31 to this race.

The GTO Pursche will be parked up in some sunny spot with germinating tomatoe seeds on the dashboard (tis never to early to get tomatoe plants on the go)

I only realized a few days ago, the nature of a mixed Championship field at the event. I did wonder from the beginning what IMSA events were doing on the SCCA schedule

Just one question.....During qualifying, is it allowed to hit escape while on track (hence exiting me to the paddock, or do I have to drive back to the pits?

oh, and just one more Smile......Whilst practicing racing with AI, when the leaders came to lap me, mixied with cars I was racing for position, it wasn't obvious who was the leader, except for the green #1 box in the car tracker (bottom left). and when it came to 2nd and 3rd lapping me, less obvious...and looking down to car tracker was a bit distracting..Am I missing a more obvious methods of "lapping cars" identification. I remeber in Papyrus Nascar, cars lapping were highlighted in red in the "relative driver" display (bottom right)

Oh, and another one.....During race, when inevitably I will have my mirrors full of GTO cars lapping me, Am I obliged to ket them by at the soonest opotunity or van I just let them find their way past, using their extra power? So say fro the twisty part early on in the track, can I hold my line and they can power pass/outbrake me down to the tight right hander at the bottom of the hill?

.....and I cant get might tiny little mind round multiple driver.car options......maybe I work it out for next time

Thanks...Sorry to be such a noob

You can hit Esc on track.
When a car go to lap you, a blue flag appears on the screen.
For lapping, there was a discussion here : http://historicsimracing.123.st/t1589-lapping-and-being-lapped-hints-please-comment?highlight=lapping

Mick I know how you feel and I still get lapped a lot.

Just remember:

  • Watch your mirrors and watch for the blue flag
  • Do not panic
  • Try to be predictable and do not slam on your brakes
  • If on a straight section stay to the edge of the straight
  • When you are paying attention to traffic in the mirrors brake a little earlier at next corner as the distraction could often cause you to overshoot and wreck (I can speak to lots of experience here).

We discussed this some time ago, and the general preferred method of letting the fastest drivers by was to hold your line and race as usual, so they don't suffer unexpected maneuvers or misunderstandings. They are quicker, they got to you, they will find their way past you. What you can do to make it easier is follow this rules of thumb:

1) If you are finishing a long straight and getting to a tight turn, brake at your usual point but go deeper hugging the outside of the turn, past the point where you would normally turn in, then turn in as usual. The faster car will turn in earlier and be at the apex already when you turn in, so you end up behind him.

2) If you are entering a series of corners and you have a faster car behind, don't try to move or give him extra room there. Stay cool and do your corners, then exit the last turn into the straight with open gas but once you are doing the next gear changes, shortshift them. That should give the quicker car the extra bit he needs to get by you.

3) Never try to brake earlier than usual on the straight, especially when you are going at high speeds. Many faster drivers will be on your slipstream trying to get the extra boost to overtake and will have braking points way deeper than you, so you could be actually braking when they are still at full gas. They will go deeper than you on the corner, so brake as usual and you will soon see them at your side, going past.

Have fun!  :cowboy:

Hats off to Mick for a 6 hour marathon solo run and a class win for Sedan B. Jan was only ~3 seconds behind him after 6 hours if I read the results right.

Standings have to be manually updated to reflect the race results. Will take care of that this week. Each of you will receive double points (40 and 30).

Thanks! and thanks for advice Alberto. After race I watched replay to check my blue flag work, and mostly went smoothly, but watching some situation from lead cars POV I realised sometimes the "body language of my made them a bit cautious, especaly into turn 1 (which I never properly mastered) as I tried to coax tired tyres to steer. Also, when it got dark, the head light of cars werent very clear and shrouded in darkness. It wasn't a big problem, and can be improbed (by adjusting monitor; lowering monitor-as I sit quite low and I do have a bit of a darker band at top; buy new monitor[on the cars anyway-literaly:)])

As for SCCA Champ'p. Catch me if you can Smile

Indeed

A consistent and constant driver, and that counts more than speed many times as his win proves! Well done  :hello:
