1991 F1 - Rules / Règlement AfficheF191

The series will be run with the F1SR 1991 F1 mod for rFactor.

Sporting Regulations

Cars

- Car choice is not free. Cars will be attributed according to the driver's level.
- Changing of car during the championship will be tolerated under exceptional circumstances only.
- In the event of a driver announcing his absence to a given race, his car will be made available for non-regular drivers only.
- A driver will not be allowed to drive for more than 3 different teams during the season.
- In the case of a newcomer wanting to join the series (ie a driver who has never raced at HSO in the past, whose level is unknown to the admins), he will only have access to slow cars (Lotus, Arrows, AGS, Coloni, Modena, Fondmetal) at first. This will give admins time to judge his level and give him access to a better suited car if possible.
- Before each race, the race topic will specify which car upgrade the driver has to use for this specific race.
If it is found in the post race inspection that a driver was using the wrong car upgrade, he will be disqualified.
- A driver missing 2 races in a row without a word on the forum will lose his car.

Training Server

A training server running on the next scheduled track will be online permanently. Password : hso91

Point rules

Points are awarded to the first six finishers on the following scale : 10-6-4-3-2-1.
Only drivers which have covered at least 90% of the laps covered by the race winner will be classified.
Whenever 90% of the total number of laps result in a number with decimals, the decimals will be disregarded.

All results will be counted at the end of the series. Two drivers tied in final points will be split by the quality of their race finishing positions.

The races

Planning

Races will be held on Sunday evenings, preceded by 2 qualifying sessions on Thursday and Sunday evenings (all times given being CET, Paris Time)

Thursday :
9.30pm - First qualifying session (1 hour, limited to 12 laps)

Saturday :
9.30pm - Second qualifying session (1 hour, limited to 12 laps)

Sunday
8.00pm - Free practice
8.55pm - Warm Up
9.00pm - Start of the race (2 hours max)

Race server password : hso91

Qualifying

The starting grid for the race will be determined by the two 1-hour sessions held during the week before the race.
To simulate the limited number of qualifying tires available at that time, qualifying sessions are limited to 12 laps per session, including warm-up and slow-down laps.
Taking part in both qualifying sessions is not mandatory.

Starting grid will be limited to the 26 fastest drivers in qualifying.

In the event of a driver being qualified for the race but not able to be at the start, the first non-qualified driver will be allowed to take his place, starting last.

Drivers not having a qualifying time will be allowed to race if there is are less than 26 qualified and non qualified drivers. The fastest drivers during the last free practice session before the warmup will be allowed to fill the last empty spots on the grid.

Example : 24 drivers having a qualifying time are present for the race. This leaves 2 empty spots on the grid. 3 drivers with no qualifying time are joining the free practice before the race. Only the fastest two of them will be allowed to start the race.

Drivers not being on the server when the warmup starts will be considered as absent. Admins need a deadline to create the starting grid with the present drivers. If a driver joins during the warmup, he will start from the back of the grid if there is room for him.

Race Starts

Starts will be given standing, with no formation lap.

Behavior on Track

- Chatting is STRICTLY FORBIDDEN in race session. It is allowed in qualifying sessions for technical issues only.
- A driver who would have to do a drive through penalty will have to drive through the pitlane at 100km/h max (60mph), even if there is no pit lane speed limit announced for the track. A driver failing to respect this will get a 40s penalty added to his final race time.
- Shortcuts : a driver gaining a position after shortcutting a turn is required to give it back as soon as possible. In the case where a driver would not do it rapidly, a 30-second penalty will be added to his final race time. In the event of abusive and intentional shortcutting, severe sanctions will be applied (up to definitive a ban from the league). To make sure you never shortcut a turn, try to always keep two wheels on the track. For those who would ignore it, the definition of "the track" is the black strip of tarmac making the circuit layout Smile .
- After colliding with another driver, if you are not sure about your responsability in the accident, the fairest way to act is to simply wait for the other driver, and resume your battle as it was before the accident. Do it wisely, slowing down can also be dangerous, during the first laps for example.
This is not a mandatory rule, but not respecting it several times may result in a penalty.

The series admin (Guillaume Siebert) will not review the race replays. However if you feel you were the victim of a dangerous behaviour, please contact the admin via private message about it (please mention the lap of the accident).

Application and Interpretation of the Regulations

The admins alone are qualified to solve any problems raised by the application and the interpretation of the present regulations.

Jeudi :
21:30 - Première séance de qualifications (1 heure, 12 tours maximum)

Samedi :
21:30 - Deuxième séance de qualifications (1 heure, 12 tours maximum)

Dimanche :
20:00 - Essais libres
20:55 - Warm Up
21:00 - Départ de la course (2 heures maximum)

Password : hso91

Qualifications

The 12 laps' rule for qualifying is indeed very good! :top: Well done!

This means that drivers will have to pay special attention for the best moment to go on track, in order to find as less traffic as possible.

This will also mean that when on a warm-up lap or a slow-down lap we will have to be alert for other drivers on qualy laps and to let them pass easily.

Great rule! It adds a lot more realism to qualifying sessions. :top:

I can also see me running on hard quals for a 3 laps run just to make sure I get a lap in there.

Will in and out laps count? that means 4x tries pretty much, right?

In and out laps count towards your 12 laps. (Out lap 1, Quick lap 2, In laps 3)

Some people have 2 quick laps but only 3 runs in total

Pity the poor soul in the Footwork. The first version is the most atrocious piece of crap i have ever drived in Rfactor. Compared to that the Merzario is a masterpiece of engineering. And you have to carry that lump for three races pale

The worst is, i´m considering driving that same Footwork in the championship Embarassed

The Footwork is poor yes, But i truly believe this championship will hinge on finishing races, Look at the test race at Jerez, 24 starters, 9 Finishes, and thats at a track with no barriers next to the track, Imagine Pheonix I predict there wont be many finishers, and i whoever drives the footwork gets to the finish i predict they Will score points.

Unless someone protests Razz i would like to drive the Footwork, that way i can claim having driven the worst cars in two F1 championships.

If that can´t be , any other "super dog" class will do. The Coloni for example has a gorgeous roar and the cockpit is charmingly basic and cheap in appearance.

You do have to cover 90% of the winner's distance as well to be elligible for points, so finishing might not be enough to score in some races :aie:

That's 8 LAPS at Phoenix, no?

Guess I'll better test the 3 cars from which I (could) pick...

The Lotus is just a shadow if what it used to be.

It looks as if I can make a good many of these races 10/16 kids and wife permitting.

Can you recommend a car for me-you know my skill/speed level, which I hope to increase.

Cheers...
