*** HSO 2013 SEASON ***

Hi fellow simracers !

2013 will be the fifth running season of classic simracing at HSO - still the one and only league in the world devoted to the recreation of existing auto races and championships of yesteryear. This new season will be our first one exclusively run on rFactor, although the mother of all sims, Grand Prix Legends, will eventually be used for an Open event or two during the year. Our racing days remain Wednesday and Sunday nights (Central European Time), with Thursdays and Saturdays hosting the qualifying sessions of the Sunday feature race.

Among the rFactor mods, the faithful Historic GT & Touring Car mod (in its improved 1.95 form) will be used for a German-based championship of the early 1970s, while another of our favourite mods, Touring Car Legends, will bring us to Great Britain for some take-no-prisonners 1980s Group A epics. After the promising Open events of 2012, the F1SR 1991 F1 mod will be back full-time, for a complete season of world-class Grand Prix action – all of it broadcasted live by our online TV streaming services ! Another novelty will be our in-house 1987 Group C mod, featuring the field of the German 1987 Supercup held for these fabulous and legendary Sports-Prototypes.

One of the great successes of our 2012 season was our first running of a complete Tour de France Automobile, and building up on this initial venture we will once again invite you to join us in this formidable simracing journey, which will be run all along the month of October. We will switch from the 1972 edition to the 1964 one, which will make for a complete change in cars, events, rules and scoring system. Of course our mod of choice for this unique event can only be the 1.95 version of HGTTC.

If all these gorgeous races and championships have not quite quenched your thirst for historic simracing, we also will have many an Open event along the year to satisfy you. Among those scheduled so far are the 1964 Targa Florio and the 1995 Indianapolis 500, while the post-season TCL classics such as the Bathurst 1000, Macau Guia Race and Wellington 500 are also set to come back. Finally, let us not forget the WSC70 mod, which will have a mini-series of its own in September, or the Caterham Cup mod, which will support all the 1988 BTCC meetings. And let’s keep a few dates open for any new historic mods that would come out during the season or for, hopefully, some exploitable historic content on rFactor 2.

1964 Tour de France Automobile

The legendary Tour de France Automobile is one of motoring's oldest races, with its first edition held as early as 1899. Its fabled history saw it go through a variety of rules and shapes, but some of the most memorable editions were without a doubt those of the early 1960s when the race counted towards the FIA GT World Championship. 1964 was one of such editions, with the world’s fastest road-going cars battling it during a 6-stage long tour of France’s circuits and hillclimbs. At the wheel of one of such dream cars as the Ferrari 250 GTO, the Shelby Cobra or the Porsche 904, you can put yourself in the racing shoes of the likes of Lucien Bianchi, Maurice Trintignant, Vic Elford or David Piper, and participate in one of simracing’s most unique events of year !
As with last year's edition, the 2013 one will occupy most of our month of October, making the Tour de France the only race that is also a championship in itself - and a challenging one at that, one only destined to the most versatile and reliable of drivers, one for the great all-rounders of the sport.

Schedule : 6 stages run over 9 nights (Wednesdays and Sundays) from Oct. 6 to Nov. 6, combining 8 circuits races and 9 hillclimbs.
Race distance : circuit races from 1 to 2 hours long.
Cars : mid-60s GT & Touring cars.

1972 Deutscshe Rundstrecken Pokal

The Deutsche Rudstrecken Pokal (a.k.a. DRP) was created in 1972 when the main German National championship for GT and Touring Cars (known as the DARM) was raised up to a professional level and renamed Deutsche Rennsport Meisterschaft (the famous DRM). While the DRM gathered Germany’s top constructors, teams and drivers into only two Divisions, the DRP kept the DARM format of multi-class racing, with as many as 20 different classes between the GT and Touring Cars, and was taylor-made for the huge number of amateur teams and drivers making the bulk of the German racing scene at the time.
Among all these groups and classes, we have retained for our 2013 series three displacement classes of Group 2 Touring Cars : 1,600cc, 2,000cc and over 2,000cc. Each driver will be able to book two cars for the year, provided one of them is a TC3. Race meetings will feature either two 25-mins sprints, or one 45-mins race. There will be one overall championship combining the results gathered by all the drivers in the three classes.

Race distance : either two sprint races of around 25 minutes, or one feature race of around 45 minutes, depending on meetings.
Cars : 1972 Group 2 Touring Cars.

1987 ADAC Supercup

The Group C era, unanimously regarded as one of the Golden Ages of Endurance racing, is back at HSO for the first time since the NR2003 championships of 2009 and 2010. The cars are now provided by rFactor, through a mod developed by the HSO Modding Team, with a field gathering all the cars of the 1987 ADAC Supercup, a five-race series organised by the German auto racing governing body. Led by a legion of Porsche 962Cs, the 35-car field also comprises three Jaguar XJR-8s, as many Sauber-Mercedes C9s and a Lancia-Ferrari LC2. Supercup races were shorter than those of the World Championship (1 hour) and this made for some exciting racing back in the days, and it surely will too from January to March 2013 at HSO.
The Supercup forum will be opened once the mod will have been released (soon ...).

Race distance : around 1 hour long.
Cars : 1987 Group C Sports-Prototypes.

1988 RAC British Touring Car Championship

After having visited Germany, France and Australia since 2009, our TCL time-machine will bring us this year to the birthplace of Touring Car racing : Great Britain and its legendary BTCC. The year is 1988, the men were Rouse, Soper, Sytner, Gravett, Harvey or Ratzenberger, the venues Brands Hatch, Silverstone, Oulton Park, Donington or Birmingham, and the cars range from the mighty turbocharged 470 HP Ford Sierra RS500 to the 250 HP Toyota Corolla TRD for a total of 10 different cars split in three classes. The beauty of the multi-class BTCC was that all the drivers of all the classes competed for the same and only overall championship points race, so we have decided to make the best of this particularity by seeding the drivers in the three classes according to their overall simracing level. This will give the big Class A cars to the fastest drivers, while the not-so-fast ones will compete among themselves in the lower classes as well as for the overall title, as the BTCC champion will be the driver with the most points in one of the three classes.
Touring Car racing at its best, the 1988 BTCC should provide a lot of action with its tight 25-mins race format. To complete the shortish BTCC evenings, the supporting BRSCC Caterham Cup will be held after the touring car event.

Race distance : sprint races of around 25 minutes.
Cars : 1988 Group A Touring Cars, three displacement classes.

1991 FIA Formula 1 World Championship

After a year’s hiatus following three successful seasons of 1979 F1 (and two seasons of 1967 GPL), Grand Prix racing is back at HSO with a complete re-run of the 1991 season. Best remembered for the Senna / Mansell duel, the 1991 GP season was also a pivotal year in the space-age electronics invasion of the sport. But while the top teams showed the way in this money-hungry area, most of the field was still relying on traditionnal mechanical engineering to try and make its way through the Grand Prix ranks. All in all, rich or poor, astronauts or craftsmen, they combined for an excellent 34-car field notable for its great mechanical diversity : V8s, V10s and V12s from Ferrari, Ford, Honda, Renault, Lamborghini, Judd and Ilmor, 18 different makes of chassis plus numerous evolutions, and two brands of tyres.
We will as always stick as much as possible to the 1991 reality regarding the proceedings of the championship, with for instance two 1-hour qualifying sessions with a limited number of laps allowed per driver (to simulate the limitation in sets of qualifying tyres), a full TV stream broadcast by our media crew, and obviously a fixed field for the year. In an attempt to have a field as balanced as possible, the drivers will be seeded by the admins, with the fastest drivers assigned to the slowest cars.

2013 arrive à grands pas, et pour la cinquième année consécutive nous vous invitons à nous rejoindre chez HSO, le seule league de simracing exclusivement dévouée à la reconstitution authentique de courses et de championnats automobiles historiques. Cette cinquième saison sera notre première 100% rFactor, même si nous espérons pouvoir organiser un Open ou deux durant l’année sur notre vieil ami Grand Prix Legends. Nos courses ont lieu les mercredi et dimanche soir, le jeudi et le samedi étant en général réservés aux qualifications de la grande course du dimanche.

Parmi les mods rFactor, le fidèle HGT&TC (dans sa nouvelle version 1.95) sera bien entendu de retour, pour un championnat national allemand du début des années 1970. Un de nos autres mods de prédilection, Touring Car Legends, nous emmènera en Grande-Bretagne pour y livrer d’impitoyables joutes au cœur du célèbre BTCC. Après plusieurs Opens prometteurs en 2012, le mod F1SR F1 1991 est quant à lui promu au rang de vedette, puisque nous disputerons l’intégralité du Championnat du Monde 1991 grâce à lui. Une autre nouveauté concerne les amateurs de sports-prototypes puisque notre équipe de moddeurs a développé un mod 1987 Groupe C qui sera baptisé par les cinq courses de la Supercup allemande.

Une des plus belles réussites de notre saison 2012 fut le génial Tour de France Automobile 1972, et fort du succès de cette édition inaugurale nous vous invitons à nouveau à participer avec nous en 2013 à cette fabuleuse odyssée du simracing. De 1972 nous passons cette année à l’édition de 1964, ce qui implique tout un tas de nouveautés, qu’il s’agisse des voitures, des épreuves, du règlement et de la méthode de classement.

Si toutes ces fabuleuses courses ne suffisent pas à satisfaire votre soif de simracing historique, nous avons également plusieurs courses Open de prévues. Parmi celles d’ores et déjà au programme figurent la Targa Florio 1964 et les 500 Miles d’Indianapolis 1995. Les classiques TCL de fin de saison (Bathurst 1000, Macau Guia Race, Wellington 500) devraient également être de retour en 2013. N’oublions pas non plus le mod WSC70 qui bénéficiera d’une mini-série en septembre, ni le mod Caterham Cup qui servira de course annexe pour le BTCC 1988. Et bien entendu il y a toujours de la place pour un Open sur un éventuel nouveau mod historique, voire (espérons !) pour du contenu exploitable selon nos critères d’ayatollahs sur rFactor 2.

Tour de France Automobile 1964

Le Tour de France fait partie des toutes premières courses autombiles jamais organisées, puisque sa première édition remonte à… 1899 ! Au fil d’une histoire longue et tourmentée, cette épreuve unique a traversé les époques et les règlements contre vents, marées et embûches administratives, tout en écrivant quelques unes des plus belles pages du sport automobile français. L’âge d’or du Tour Auto est certainement le début des années 1960, quand l’épreuve faisait alors partie du Championnat du Monde GT de la FIA. 1964 est une de ces années de légende, et c’est cette édition que nous avons choisi de recréer en 2013. Au volant de voitures aussi mythiques que la Ferrari 250 GTO, la Shelby Cobra ou la Porsche 904, revivez les aventures des Bianchi, Trintignant, Elford, Piper ou Bondurant de l’époque, au fil d’une épopée simracingesque unique au monde !
Tout comme l’an dernier, le Tour de France occupera tout notre mois d’octobre, ce qui fait de cette course un véritable championnat en lui-même. Un championnat en forme de Graal, un Graal promis au plus complet et au plus fiable des pilotes, à celui qui saura le mieux aller vite, souvent et longtemps !

Calendrier : 6 étapes courues en 9 soirées (les mercredi et dimanche) du 6 octobre au 6 novembre, pour un total de 17 épreuves chronométrées (circuits et courses-de-côtes).
Durée courses : courses sur circuit entre 1 et 2 heures.
Voitures : GT & Touring Cars du milieu des années 60.


Deutscshe Rundstrecken Pokal 1972

La Deutsche Rudstrecken Pokal (Coupe d’Allemagne des Circuits, plus connue sous le nom de DRP) a été créée en 1972 quand le championnat national allemand GT & Touring Cars (le DARM) fut élevé à un niveau international pour devenir le célèbre DRM. Vitrine du sport automobile ouest-allemand de l’époque, le DRM ne concernait que les teams d‘usine et la DRP fut donc créée pour la nuée d’écuries privées et de pilotes indépendants qui participaient au DARM.
La DRP regroupait GT et Touring Cars, chaque catégorie étant divisée en une multitude de classes de cylindrée. Pour notre édition 2013, nous avons choisi trois classes du Groupe 2 (Tourismes Spéciales) : 1600cc, 2000cc et plus de 2000cc. Chaque pilote pourra sélectionner deux voitures différentes pour l’année, à condition que l'une d'entre elles soit une TC3. Chaque soirée de course comprendra soit une course simple d’environ 45 minutes, soit deux courses sprints d’environ 25 minutes. Il n’y a qu’un seul championnat regroupant tous les pilotes quelque soit leur classe.

ADAC Supercup 1987

S’il est bien une période qui reste chère au coeur de amateurs de courses d’endurance internationales, c’est bien celles de sport-prototypes Groupe C des années 1980. Faute de support adéquat sur rFactor, les fabuleuses Groupe C étaient absentes du calendrier HSO depuis nos championnats sur le mod GTP de NR2003 en 2009 et 2010. Nous avons donc comblé ce vide en développant nous-mêmes une première version de notre mod Groupe C, que nous utiliserons pour disputer les cinq manches de la Supercup allemande de 1987.
Porsche 962C, Jaguar XJR-8, Sauber-Mercedes C9 et Lancia-Ferrari LC2, autant de noms synonymes de puissance et de vitesse, voilà les quatre voitures parmi lesquelles choisir votre monte pour 2013. Les courses Supercup étaient plus courtes que celles du championnat du monde (1 heure) et donc inteses et très disputées, et elles le seront surement aussi de janvier à mars 2013 chez HSO !

RAC British Touring Car Championship 1988

Après nous avoir fait visiter l’Allemagne, la France et l’Australie depuis 2009, notre machine à remonter le temps TCL nous emmène cette année au pays du Touring Car : la Grande-Bretagne et son célèbre BTCC. Notre choix s’est porté sur 1988, l’année des duels Rouse / Soper, l’année des Ford Sierra RS500, de la Holden Commodore de Walkinshaw, l’année aussi de Frank Sytner, champion sur BMW M3. Car en effet si les grosses Sierra turbo faisaient la loi au classement scratch, le BTCC avait la particularité d’être un championnat multi-classes, dans lequel était sacré champion le pilote ayant marqué le plus de points dans l’une des classes engagées. Nous avons tenté de prendre le meilleur parti de ce point de règlement particulier, en répartissant les pilotes dans les trois classes différentes selon leur niveau de simracing. Les pilotes les moins rapides pourront ainsi affronter en piste des pilotes de même niveau au volant de voitures aux performances équivalentes, tout en ayant autant de chances de jouer le titre que les pilotes des classes supérieures.
Quintessence du Touring Car, le BTCC 1988 devrait être plein de suspense et de rebondissements avec ses courses courtes de 25 minutes. Pour finir ces soirées BTCC un peu courte, la Coupe Caterham du BRSCC sera organisée une fois finie la course Touring Cars.

Championnat du Monde FIA F1 1991

Après une année sans championnat de Formule 1, la catégorie reine du sport automobile fait son grand retour à HSO via le mod F1SR 1991. Année charnière dans le développement des aides électroniques au pilotage, 1991 est également mémorable pour le celèbre duel Senna-McLaren-Honda contre Mansell-Williams-Renault. Le superbe plateau de 34 voitures rassemble une grande variétié de moteurs (V8, V10 ou V12, par Ferrari, Ford, Honda, Renault, Lamborghini, Judd et Ilmor), 18 marques de châssis différents plus de nombreuses évolutions, et deux marques de pneumatiques.
Comme toujours chez HSO, la saison se déroulera autant que possible dans le mêmes conditions que la vraie saison 1991, avec notamment deux séances qualificatives de 1 heure chacune où chaque pilote disposera de 12 tours maximum pour faire son temps (pour simuler la limitation en nombre de trains de pneus qualifs). Chaque Grand Prix sera également retransmis en direct sur notre stream TV, et le plateau sera bien entendu identique en tout points à celui des vraies courses. Les attributions de voitures seront faites par les admins, et par souci d’équilibrer le plateau les plus les plus rapides se verront confier les voitures les plus lentes.

All the same I want to believe that the output of the rFactor 2 is around the corner. And this season could be the last, when we use our good old rFactor. And without a doubt HSO amounted to a wonderful program. We were introduced to some of the best mods. And I am particularly pleased that the administration of the portal drew attention to the interest of many users remarkable cars of Group C.
Guillaume said that the mod Group C HSO will be ready by 2018, however, managed to 2013! I would like to think that I somehow influenced on it !
Very much I hope in the nearest time of purchase, as planned new computer and to be back on track in a wonderful company's pilots HSO .

Guillaume dare I ask, what kind of model Lancia LC2 you will use in the mod Group C? Special theme yet, so I ask the question here. In fact, the model of which was available to me, has a number of serious graphic flaws, it can significantly hamper the work. It took me a long time to put it in order.
