You're the opposite of me, you know what to doxD

DO we have to use the realistic gearbox? I think someone mentioned it already...

If you don't, the car is a lot slower (less power).

I think I use it, but it doesn't feel like I have to lift the throttle to shift down... or do I misunderstand how the gearboxes work in this game?

havent driven yet, expected 5 degrees all around.
is there an explanation why this is so much off the historic values (see cars back then in spa)

i dont know either.

question one: automatic clutch, f11:
in the 1970wsc it didnt matter at all, i switched it off and expected shifting times to decrease, but seems it only kicks in on spins to "atni-stall". does it do anything to shifting times in f1 91?

two: i have switched off auto lift and auto blip in playier.ini - does this decrease shifting time? gearbox life time? or affect car performance (like gearbox does in car selection menu?)

three: do i have to depress the clutch button on my steering wheel at every shift? i did that in the indy race and hell it was hard stuff. because someone said: not clutching can destroy the gearbox in the race. (maybe auto clutch (f11) will help here? (but didnt help in wsc70).

i think that could answer it all

On most cars, the realistic gearbox option disables autolift and autolift. Only the Ferrari and Williams are different with their semi automatic gearboxes, which have autolift & autoblip.
I dont get your issue with lifting the throttle on downshifts, no car forces you to have 0% throttle on downshifts. scratch

Did I say lift? I think I meant apply throttle while shifting down. If I don't press any pedal and shift down, it does. Is that right or wrong?

I am not sure.

I haven't changed any settings regarding autoblip anf shift in the inis as I don't know where Razz

Check your PLR file in the Userdata/YourName folder, if you want to drive in the same conditions as on the server, you need to have autoblip and autolift disabled (the line must be "autoblip = 0")

yeah you said lift, i was also confused. so i didnt know what to say.

guilliaume continued confusiontime :D by getting it right on his own but sayiing "autolift and autolift" off lol.

well david, if u havent changed usually the standard is autoblip on, autolift off.

gui, does the server really take autolift and autoblip away? i think it can change many things (like grip, engine ... but also personal input files?)

i have it off anyways. but: do i need to depress the clutch at gear shift(surely it shifts without depressing it, but will that decrease my gearbox life time?)

Auto Clutch="1"
Auto Lift="0" // Whether to automatically lift with manual shifting but auto-clutch (non-semiautomatic trans only)
Auto Blip="1" // Whether to automatically blip with manual shifting but auto-clutch (non-semiautomatic trans only)
Shift Mode="0"

I usually don't use the clutch pedal as I just recently changed to be a left foot braker; Before that, I was braking AND accelerating with my right foot alone(!)

The clutch pedal is useless in rFactor anyway, the only risk with autoclutch off is stalling when the car is stopped. Autoclutch is allowed on the server. But autoblip isn't, you should disable it to drive in the same conditions, and then you'll have to keep the throttle open when you downshift.

i have the authentic manual transmission in the minardi and it autoblips.

guilliaume, is there a mod which requires you to depress the clutch pedal to get the gear in ?
in gpl you need to overstep the clutch threshold.
in nascar2003 you can also cahnge without it and you can destroy that partical gear.

is it here too?

No. There's a plugin that simulates that though, cant remember its name.
And your Minardi autoblips probably because you have autoblip enabled What a Face

ccol,

when i drove my renault twingo 1993 with the c06 c3g (1977R4) engine,

the fricking thing wont take shift when i clutch in 2nd in winter lol. but hey, its like the link of Franck says: whenever i pull the gear in and it wont get in, i also need to fully reclutch.

i cant figure why that is, but it seems a common issue in H pattern gearboxes.

all i know there are things like shafts around the gear axles that make the noise, not the teeth of the cogwheel :D

Gui i thought the server switches auto blip off and i think i have it off.

some cars have the clutch connected to the throttle pedal What a Face (invention)

I'll upload my setup and replay asap (not the 1'51"1 but 1'52"7 with soft tires, which is as good as 1'51"1 with quali tires).
If you want to use the softer qualifying tires, you got to make a very slow outlap to avoid burning your tires before even starting your flying lap.

edit : there you go : ftp://91.121.135.76/setups/rFactor/F1%201991/Spa%201988/GS%20Spa88%20Dallara%201%2052%207.rar
