For the shadows, you can disable it, but in real life, shadows, sun, rain, dust are also be trouble elements too. Wink

Indeed...

No, I do not wish the shadows away-I just want to be prepared for the race..

Thanks Ben...

Hey James,
If you still having trouble braking with my setup, try giving it 1 click of toe out on the back.
With this setup you'll be able to use the curbs as I do.
Cheers mate! :frank:

Guilllaume's video was most helpful..

1) I am braking WAY too early because....
2) the car is unstable under braking, which I think is caused by
3)a narrow steering angle

I have not tried the recommened 900 degrees rotation yet-is this the right way to go? It sounds a bit bus-like, but perhaps the narrow ratio I had set is to blame for my twitchy little German car..

Next session I am on I will try the 900 degree option from the upgrade menu.

Some drivers like Antoine, Frank, or me are too lazy to turn the wheel, we have 270-360 degrees rotation, not more. You can try with this setting.

Yeah... I also use 320º on my Logitech profiler.
I've used to use even less when I raced F1... but like this I'm much more precise=faster.
As for braking... well I guess braking is a «form of art»... I'm getting better on it but I now there's so much to learn.
On the Porsche though, I'll advise you not to brake hard without applying some throttle at the same time to compensate the enormous weight transfer, due to that unbalanced distribuition on the 911.
Its tricky to do using 3 pedals... but I'm getting there :D
Cheers :frank:

Actually a narrow steering angle should make the car more stable, because minor inputs in the steering will not translate into big wheel movements.

Everyone has of course his own preferences, but I like to use a small trick: Set up your steering wheel in a manner that you can take the average corner with 90º rotation of it. That is most helpful because you will inmediately recognize the corners where you need more or less, and your hands will bring the wheel to the precise position easily and with less attention needed. And it will also ensure that the direction is not touchy at high speeds or under braking.

BTW did you check what I pointed out? I also suffered very unstable braking in this mod with the Porsches last year and had to brake much earlier due to not having installed the proper upgrade for the shift!

Yeah James,
What Alberto is saying is very important.
I use a Logitech G27 fully manual with the 3 pedals, and I'm doing heal-and-toe no auto blip or auto lift. So you have to check what you are using and then maybe config the game for your preferences...
What wheel do you use? do you use only brake/gas? or 3 pedals?

The only technique I can provide at this point since I only made one race with that Porsche is:

During braking I'm constantly blipping the throttle to keep the car stable; since the car has all the weight in the back and when braking, a lot of that weight transfers to the front, making the back unstable, so feeding little amounts of gas during braking will probably help. It's not a relaxing driving, but I think it'll do the trick :hello:

Hope I was helpful :conduit:

Guys, I really appreciate the input...thanks so much.

I have a logitech driving force GT.

I'm doing two pedlals, using the buttons for shifting, and left foot braking.

It's good to hear everyone else's steering ratios. Maybe I'm not off in that regard.

Watching Guillaume's video-the car looks SO stable under braking-maybe I am braking too hard.

I do not like the pedal feel for this wheel-maybe I need to lower the sensitivity of the brakes.

Alberto-I believe I have the proper upgrade for what I want to do-but let me verify-thanks..

Stepping back from it all-I'm almost wishing I had a front engined car as the physics are less complicated.

Alas.... Wink

Perhaps I'll see some of you on the track before the race Sunday.

You've all given me much food for thought-and I greatly appreciate all of it.

Thanks

James

Description of the upgrade does not always give you an idea of what its effects in the hendling will be. The easiest thing you can do is test the upgrades one by one; simply one lap at the Hockenheim with each upgrade will inmediately show you which one works best for you. It's done in 15 minutes and you can then be sure you have the best solution Round 6 - GP Automobil-Club der Schweiz [May 6th] - Page 3 652294

I use almost the same technique than Tiago, I'm not blipping the throttle while braking but maintaining a very low but constant acceleration. That helps a lot to stabilize rear engined cars. Wink

for those using realfeel plugin you can try this:

mix ffb effect plugin with rfactor ffb----->shortcut ctrl+1

this made the 911 more stable for me

I thought i found a good setup, the car is stable while braking, i have a 242 km/h top speed which seems find for the 2.4 s, but then after 7/8 laps, the behavior of the car changes and become less stable while braking.
