BMW M1 Procar /Beta Testers Required Wagner11

As some of you may know we have been working on Version 2 of the BMW M1 Procar mod ..

We have done a lot of work to improve the mod over the original and we really need to
finalize the Physics .... . I would like to offer the chance for everyone at HSO to Betatest the latest version
so that we can finally decide on the physics that we would like to use for Version 2 .....

This is not just open to Aliens , I Would like to offer this chance to everyone , i would really like drivers with all abilities
to try and give me some feedback about the mod ....

If anyone is interested in trying it out and giving me some feedback then please PM me

I love the car IRL and I love the mod too...
I really would help, but the langage would be a barrier!

There is a post on nogrip, I put the part who interest me:

Quote :
The M1 PROCAR has 1080* of steering wheel rotation and 50* front wheels lock in real life but we can only adjust the front wheels to 36* in the garage.
Therefore using 778* and 36* recreates the original ratio of the car.

For cars which I have no accurate data for I use more general settings....

Hope you put some test in those setting, not only with 540° and under Embarassed

I look forward to the start of the season :top:

I think the overall maximum lock should be halved in rFactor (max lock from center to one side). 50 degrees to both directions sounds a bit heavy to me.

If that's correct and if my calculations are correct, the steering ratio is 21.6:1, not all that sporty.

I Think it would be a great idea to setup a server but
i cannot host at the moment so we need someone to host a server and
a suitable time to test ....

Very Busy at the moment still working on other things to do with the mod
trying to fit Work , Social and Play in is a nightmare for me at the moment ...

If someone can host i will try my best to be there ... Wink

I don't know where that data comes from, but it's probably from the ordinary street car. According to this web: http://www.bmwmregistry.com/model_faq.php?id=20 the street version had 3.2 turns of lock, which I believe correct. I doubt much that the racing steering rack in the PROCAR was installed to gain 0.2 of a turn Suspect , instead figures of 2.5 turns I have seen somewhere (Can't remember where right now) seem more realistic.

The PROCAR kept AFAIK the same 50 degrees front wheel lock, so 2.5 turns or even 2 turns would be OK (Even if with a considerably heavy steering, due to the tyre size and direct steering)

From here
http://www.nogripracing.com/forum/showthread.php?p=1326956#post1326956

it is very difficult to find reliable information on these data. Already in production cars, and worse when those cars are prepared for racing.

The M1 had a direct steering ratio:
http://www.bmwmoa.org/forum/showthread.php?t=24889

I do not know much about steering ratios , and the question I ask myself:

Have they changed the steering system to reduce the number of laps?
I know that the M1 was tuned, but a steering column, it's still an important modification on a car. Okay for a pure race car, but more difficult for a gt brought onto the track.

Maybe they only play with the setup, I dunno...

Still, the result I get at 900 ° in the mod is very similar to this:

There will always be small differences between the real and the virtual, and if I find ,one day, reliable information on the M1 lock to lock steering, I make some modification on my wheel to be more close the real car, because we play sim.

Anyway the most important thing is to have fun :conduit:

It's not necessary to change it all if it was already prepared for that. Just the pinion would suffice if two shaft mounts are prepared for two positions or adjustable. You would be amazed about how many things the M1 had already as street car that were actually competition conceived but simply unused in the street car. For example, the upper suspension triangles had two different possible mounting positions on the chassis, so that simply unscrewing the wishbone and screwing it again in the other mounting you had a different geometry study

EDIT: See it in this picture, red arrow marks the current mount of the rear upper wishbone, green circle shows the different available places where it could be alternatively placed BMW M1 Procar /Beta Testers Required 652294

I knew the M1 had a double wishbone system, but dunno it was adjustable Shocked, this car is amazing Very Happy

Alberto Ibañez wrote:

That's possible, and if the car has a system similar to this one, it can change very quickly the number of turns of the wheel:
BMW M1 Procar /Beta Testers Required F-WrightspeedStear4d995fa70009fd3f

That mean, even if you play in 200° you can be also "historically accurate" as you play 900°!?!

Shit, I need found something else than the rotation wheel for joke on those "NFS_shift drivers" lol! lol! lol!

Now that we have sorted a few more things out can You guys PLEASE do a few laps testing at Monaco
this is obviously the track which will test the m1's Physics to the limit ........

While we want the Physics to be historically accurate we dont want them to be impossible i think a test at Monaco
would confirm this one way or the other ....

It Would be nice to finally wrap the physics up and concentrate on other aspects of the mod to help finish ...

Cheers Guys :drink:
